The Mental Healness Podcast
Welcome to the Mental Healness Podcast, hosted by yours truly, Lee Hammock. If you're new here I have NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) and I've been in therapy for the last 8 years learning how to deal with it and live a better life. From the start I've offered you the rare POV of a diagnosed narcissist but NOW I'm switching it up a little bit. I'm interviewing others that are dealing with their own mental health journeys and those that have dealt with toxic relationship dynamics as well. I'm still sharing my POV just sharing others as well. Collabs ✉ partnerships@mentalhealness.net

I’m a Narcissist and We’ve Already Prepared for You to Expose Us
Season 2, Episode 528
Show notes
What happens when you expose a narcissist or threaten the public image they have worked to protect? I’m Lee Hammock, a diagnosed narcissist, and in this video I share my perspective on narcissistic exposure, shame, reputation protection, and avoiding accountability. I discuss smear campaigns, blame reversal, and why someone may try to discredit you before you tell your story. I also explain why speaking out does not always lead to the outcome you expect and why your safety matters more than winning a public argument. I’m a Narcissist and This Is Why We Blame You for Everything
Season 2, Episode 527
Show notes
Why does a narcissist blame you for everything even things you didn’t do or couldn’t control? I’m Lee Hammock, a diagnosed narcissist, and in this video I share my perspective on blame shifting, shame, and avoiding accountability in toxic relationships. I explain how admitting wrongdoing can bring up feelings of worthlessness and why someone may redirect blame rather than face those feelings. Drawing on my own experience in therapy, I discuss what that internal struggle feels like without excusing harmful behavior. I’m a Narcissist and This Is Why We Use Religion to Manipulate You
Season 2, Episode 525
Show notes
I’m a diagnosed narcissist, and in this video I explain how narcissistic people can use religion, faith, scripture, guilt, and forgiveness to control their partners and avoid accountability. I break down religious manipulation, spiritual abuse, weaponizing God, forced forgiveness, and the red flags that can make you question your own judgment. Faith itself is not the problem, using faith to excuse mistreatment, demand obedience, or silence someone is the problem. If someone uses God, religion, or “forgiveness” to keep you in a harmful relationship, you deserve support and safety. I’m a Narcissist and Here’s Why Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” Is So Accurate
Season 2, Episode 524
Show notes
In this reaction, I break down how Taylor Swift’s fictional “Patient Zero” video depicts the cycle of a toxic relationship from charm and love bombing to gaslighting, blame reversal, public image management, and the warnings people often miss. As a diagnosed narcissist, I explain why the video’s themes may resonate with survivors who felt confused by a partner who seemed charming in public but unsafe behind closed doors. This is commentary on fictional characters and relationship patterns, not a diagnosis of any real person. We also explore why a former partner may try to warn the next person and why survivors are never responsible for someone else’s abusive choices. If a relationship feels unsafe, reach out to trusted support and prioritize your safety.

I’m a Narcissist: Here's Why We Don't Think You're Going To Leave
Season 2, Episode 523
Show notes
I’m a diagnosed narcissist, and in this video I explain why many narcissistic people believe you will never leave them even after lying, cheating, manipulation, or emotional abuse. They may mistake your empathy, hope, patience, and history together for proof that you will always stay or come back. This first-person perspective explores narcissistic entitlement, devaluation, control, grandiosity, and why setting a boundary can suddenly make you seem “flawed” in their eyes. This is not an excuse for abuse: you are not weak, and you do not need someone’s permission to choose yourself. If leaving feels unsafe, seek trusted local support and prioritize a safety plan.

I’m a Narcissist: Why We Send You Songs After We Hurt You
Season 2, Episode 517
Show notes
I’m a diagnosed narcissist, and in this video I explain why a narcissistic person may send you songs after they hurt you, lie to you, cheat, rage, or give you the silent treatment. A song can be a way to pull on nostalgia, express emotion without taking accountability, test whether you are still emotionally available, or reopen the door after conflict. The message may feel deeply personal, but a playlist is not the same as changed behavior, a sincere apology, or repair. This is not an excuse for narcissistic abuse, it is a first-person perspective on emotional manipulation, hoovering, guilt, and control. Watch the pattern, protect your peace, and let consistent actions, not lyrics, tell you the truth.

What Did a Narcissist See in You in the First Place?
Season 2, Episode 516
Show notes
What did a narcissist see in you in the first place? In this video, Lee Hammock explains why people with narcissistic traits may be drawn to empathy, loyalty, generosity, resilience, forgiveness, and a desire to see the best in others. These are not weaknesses, but without boundaries they can become qualities that a toxic person tries to exploit. Learn the difference between becoming closed off and becoming more discerning, so you can protect your peace without losing the parts of yourself that make you compassionate. A narcissist choosing you does not mean you caused the abuse or deserved it.

I Knew the Loud Narcissist… I Wasn’t Ready for the Quiet One
Season 3, Episode 20
Show notes
Ashleyjoins the Mental Healness Podcast to share how she survived two very different toxic marriages: one loud and overt, the other quiet, subtle, and much harder to recognize. After leaving a nearly decade-long relationship marked by control, betrayal, isolation, and emotional abuse, she remarried believing she knew every red flag, until covert manipulation appeared in a different form. Ashley and Lee Hammock discuss narcissistic abuse, love bombing, trauma patterns, co-parenting, childhood wounds, faith, healing, and why leaving one toxic relationship does not automatically mean you have processed what it taught you. Her story is a reminder that taking responsibility for your healing is not the same as taking responsibility for someone else’s abuse. Follow Ashley and her ministry, Commentary of Redemption, below

I’m a Narcissist: Yes, We Know What We’re Doing
Season 2, Episode 515
Show notes
I’m a diagnosed narcissist, and in this video I explain why many narcissistic people know when they are manipulating, lying, withholding affection, shifting blame, or causing emotional harm. Awareness does not equal accountability, and knowing better does not automatically mean someone will choose to behave better. This is not an excuse for narcissistic abuse it is a first-person perspective on self-awareness, entitlement, control, and the work required to change harmful patterns. If someone repeatedly hurts you and then claims they “didn’t know,” pay attention to their actions, not just their apologies. Healing may require boundaries, distance, and support that centers your safety.

Why Narcissists Always Compare You to Their Exes
Season 2, Episode 514
Show notes
Why do narcissistic and toxic people constantly compare you to their exes? In this video, Lee Hammock explains how comparisons can be used to provoke jealousy, create insecurity, keep you competing for approval, and distract from their own behavior. Whether they praise an ex, criticize an ex, or say “my ex would never do that,” the goal may be to keep you emotionally off balance.
