  1. My thoughts on Carnivore (From a Heart Surgeon)

    Show notes

As a heart surgeon, what does Dr. Jeremy London really think about the carnivore diet?

Few nutrition topics divide people as quickly as the carnivore diet. Some swear by it, while others have had a rough experience. In this video, cardiac surgeon Dr. Jeremy London evaluates carnivore the way he believes every nutrition plan should be judged: by how it works for most people, not one success story or one failure.

Dr. London has tried the carnivore diet himself and used it as a tool. He shares what he learned, why he eventually stopped, and how he weighs the pros and cons from a cardiovascular perspective.

    In this video, you’ll learn:

    - The difference between carnivore and keto, and why the two get confused

    - The real benefits: elimination diet, protein intake, metabolic health, satiety, and simplicity

    - The drawbacks: limited long-term data, sustainability, social pressure, and no fiber

    - Why low insulin causes your kidneys to flush electrolytes, and why you need to replace them

    - The biggest concern for cardiologists and heart surgeons: rising apolipoprotein B (ApoB)

    - Why looking good in the mirror isn’t the same as being healthy, and which labs you should check

If your nutritional plan is working and your weight, labs, and energy are where they should be, Dr. London isn’t here to argue with success. But you have to look under the hood.

Know your ApoB, LDL-C, HDL, triglycerides, hemoglobin A1C, and fasting insulin.

The best nutritional plan is the one you can sustain, and that keeps your whole physiology in balance. Thank you to our sponsor

  2. Walking Won’t Save Your Bones (Here’s What Will)

    Show notes

Walking won’t build strong bones. Not even with a weighted vest.

In this episode, Dr. Jeremy London explains why your bones need more force than everyday movement provides, how bone remodeling works, and the three pillars that protect you from frailty, falls, and fractures as you age.

Read this 'How to Maximize Bone Density and Avoid Osteoporosis': https://drjeremylondon.com/articles/how-to-maximize-bone-density-and-avoid-osteoporosis-7fb49

    You’ll learn:

    - Why walking is powerful for metabolic health but falls short for bone density

    - How mechanical stress signals your bones to build new tissue and slows breakdown

    - Why a DEXA scan is the gold standard for knowing where you stand

    - Why hip fractures are so dangerous, and why men face higher mortality after one

    - The 3 pillars of avoiding frailty: balance and coordination, strength and bone loading, and nutrition

    - Why lifting at 80–85% of your one-rep max beats “3 sets of 10”

    - How impact training (jumping, stairs, tennis, basketball, volleyball) stimulates bone growth

    - The nutrients your bones need: protein, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, vitamin D3, and K2

  8. What Actually Causes Heart Disease? (The 5 Studies That Proved It)

    Show notes

I'm Dr. Jeremy London, a board-certified cardiovascular surgeon in practice for over 25 years. In this episode I break down five landmark cardiovascular studies, the foundational research that did the heavy lifting to shape how we treat heart disease today.

But this isn't just a history lesson. I walk through each study the same way a physician does: how the study was designed, what it got right, what it got wrong, and whether it held up over time. That framework is the real takeaway, because in an age of overwhelming health information, knowing how to evaluate a study is more valuable than memorizing any single result.

We go from Framingham in 1948, which invented the very idea of a "risk factor," all the way to SPRINT in 2015, which changed the blood pressure number we all aim for. Along the way you'll see exactly how these studies stack on top of each other to answer the next question: Do risk factors exist? Which ones matter most? Is one of them actually causal? And how hard should we push when we treat them?

Medical science isn't stone tablets. It's guidance, and it should be pressure-tested constantly. Strong beliefs, loosely held.

After decades working in men's health, one thing is clear: most of what determines how long and how well men live comes down to understanding the body, knowing where the risks are, and acting on them early enough to make a difference.

In this episode I cover risks across cardiovascular health, mental health, the screenings most men put off, and what building a genuine foundation for long term health actually looks like for you and the people around you.

    Show notes

After 25 years and thousands of open-heart surgeries, one truth stands above everything: I can save your life, but I can't live it for you. The decisions that determine how long and how well you live happen daily, at home, not in my operating room.

In this episode, cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Jeremy London shares the 11 most important lessons his career in medicine has taught him, the ones that weren't in the textbooks, that med school got wrong, or that science has completely overturned since he qualified.

    •

Why chronic inflammation is the silent driver behind nearly every major disease

    •

The surprising fact that exercise is the most powerful supplement on the planet, and why sitting all day cancels your workout

  15. Why Time Speeds Up As You Age (And The 3 Things That Slow It Down)

    Show notes

Most longevity conversations focus on two things: living longer (lifespan) and living healthier (healthspan). But there's a third pillar almost nobody talks about.

In this video, cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Jeremy London introduces timespan, the science of how you experience the time you have. Why does a year at 50 feel shorter than a summer at 7? Why do we reach our deathbeds feeling like we "just blinked"? And what can we actually do about it?

In this episode, Dr. London breaks down:

    •

The Proportional Theory of Time, the mathematical reason why time speeds up as you age (and why you've already lived half your "felt" life by 17 or 18)

    •

The neuroscience of episodic memory, how your brain decides what gets recorded in 4K vs. what gets skipped

    •

The Reminiscence Bump: Why ages 15–25 feel richest in memory, and how to recreate that density

    •

3 levers to reclaim your time perception: Flow, Presence, and Purpose

  16. The 6 Levers That Could Save Your Heart From Sugar

    Show notes

Most people think healthy living means getting it perfect every day. After 25 years as a cardiovascular surgeon, I can tell you that mindset is exactly what's keeping people stuck.

Real life doesn't pause for your health goals. Sick kids. Late mornings. A meal grabbed on the run - again. In this episode, I'm talking about something nobody in medicine wants to admit: the gap between what we tell patients to do and the life they actually have to live.

Because here's what I've learned from the operating table - your health story isn't written in a single day. The ledger stays open. And every choice you make today, imperfect as it may be, is still a vote for the person you're becoming.

This isn't about letting yourself off the hook. It's about staying engaged, staying attentive, and understanding that tomorrow is always another opportunity to cast a different vote.

  17. Ignoring Your Medication Is More Dangerous Than You Think - Heart Surgeon Explains

    Show notes

Most people think needing medication means they've failed. After 25 years as a cardiovascular surgeon, I think that mindset is putting lives at risk, including my own. In this episode, I'm stories I rarely talk about: a patient who did everything "right”, and the moment I ignored my own warning signs as a heart surgeon. Both of us had the same blind spot and it almost cost everything. The truth is lifestyle is powerful. But it's not everything. And refusing medication when your biology demands it isn't discipline...it's a dangerous gamble. *My Newsletter* https://www.drjeremylondon.com/newsletter *Thank you to our sponsors* Rorra : rorra.com/london Rho : rhonutrition.com/london *My Social Media* Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drjeremylondon/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@drjeremylondon Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/drjeremylondonmd As a board-certified cardiovascular surgeon, I often discuss how important it is to address health concerns. This video highlights that taking medications is a strategic approach to risk reduction, not a sign of failure, especially when considering individual medical genetics. While lifestyle changes are powerful for overall health science, they don't always solve every issue, and sometimes medical education emphasizes the necessity of interventions. We must embrace all available tools in healthcare for optimal medlife. * The information in this video is not intended nor implied to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
