  1. A Mother’s Fight for Her Son & a New Approach to Childhood Cancer w/ Season Johnson

    Show notes

As a mom of six, this conversation hit me hard. Season’s son, Kicker, was diagnosed with leukemia just before his third birthday, and since then she has turned her experience into passion, knowledge, and hope for other families facing some of the hardest, most unimaginable moments in life. I learned so much from her, and I know you will too.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    •

Combining conventional and holistic care. Your child’s doctors care deeply about helping your child, but most were trained in one path to get there and received very little nutrition education. Season gives advice on navigating traditional cancer treatments, while simultaneously adding holistic healing and support methods.

    •

Understanding your genes through nutrigenomics. Your genes can offer clues about what your body needs most. A simple saliva test isn’t diagnostic, but just like a weather forecast, it can help guide your family’s nutrition and lifestyle choices.

    •

Letting go of guilt. No parent is powerful enough to cause their child’s cancer, or to control it. Hope and fear can live side by side, and choosing hope, even 15 minutes at a time, can carry a family through the hardest days.

    •

Caring for the whole family. When one child is sick, it’s easy for everything else to fall to the side. Siblings still need one-on-one time and a way to feel included, and a strong marriage gives the whole family something steady to lean on. Making room for connection, fun, and play keeps everyone grounded through the hardest seasons.

    •

Small changes add up. I love that Season teaches simple, practical ways to start instead of overhauling everything at once. You can’t supplement your way out of a poor diet, but one easy swap, like trading a processed breakfast for real protein, builds momentum. And leaving room for treats and fun days keeps healthy habits sustainable for the whole family.

Listen now and share this episode with anyone you know who is walking through the journey of childhood cancer.

About Season: Season Johnson is a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Integrative Health Practitioner, and student at the Metabolic Terrain Institute. When her two-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer, her family walked through 3.5 years of daily chemotherapy and countless surgeries, and that experience became the start of her mission.

Today, she owns Biodynamic Wellness, a functional medicine practice in Solana Beach, California, founded the Thrive Through Cancer Formula and Thrive Beyond Cancer programs, and co-founded the KICKcancER Movement nonprofit with her husband to support children with cancer and their families.

Season has received the Weston A. Price Activist Award, the Children’s Health Advocate Award, and the doTERRA Elevation Award, and has shared her work everywhere from the Oscars to pro athletes with the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Braves. Through her practice, programs, podcast, and coaching, she helps families feel hopeful, empowered, and supported.

  2. Allergies, Food Labels, and Why Corn Is Everywhere w/ Jessica Davidoff

    Show notes

Thirty-two doctors. That’s how many Jess saw while her son was vomiting nightly, losing his hair, and covered in eczema, and not one of them would consider that food might be the cause. She trusted her gut anyway, and she was right. If you’ve ever been dismissed by a doctor, you need to hear this story. What really got me was how deep corn runs in our food system, from carriers and processing aids to natural flavors, and how none of it has to show up on a label. This is exactly why I’m so passionate about label transparency. Jess is a fierce, loving mom who turned her family’s hardest season into a company, and I think you’ll walk away inspired and a little more label-savvy.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    •

Trust your gut. Jess was dismissed by doctor after doctor when she suspected food was the root cause of her son’s symptoms. Her advice to parents: a mother’s (and father’s) intuition matters, so hold your ground when something doesn’t feel right.

    •

Corn hides almost everywhere. With 1,800+ corn derivatives, it can show up in maltodextrin, citric acid, natural flavors, vitamin D carrier oils in milk, enriched flour fortifications, and even machine processing aids that never have to be listed on a label.

    •

“Natural” doesn’t mean what you think. Terms like “clean” and “no fluff” aren’t regulated, and many brands don’t even know what’s in their own natural flavors. Jess’s rule for Cob is simple: if you wouldn’t find it in your own kitchen, it doesn’t go in the product.

    •

Sorghum is an ancient grain worth knowing. It’s naturally gluten-free and non-GMO, pops just like popcorn, can be made into tortilla chips, and is a low-resource, drought-resistant crop.

Listen and share this one with anyone you know struggling with food allergies.

    Meet Jessica:

Jess Davidoff is the founder and CEO of Cob, a snack brand making corn-free, gluten-free snacks from the ancient grain sorghum.

A serial entrepreneur and Princeton graduate, Jess developed the concept after her son’s corn allergy diagnosis led her to overhaul her family’s entire diet. After testing her popped sorghum at a Hamptons farmers market in 2024, she brought on tennis champion Novak Djokovic as co-founder. Djokovic also led the company’s $5 million seed round.

Today Cob offers popped sorghum in four flavors and a sorghum tortilla chip. Jess lives in Sag Harbor, New York, with her husband and two sons.https://millingmea.com/cob-launches-corn-free-popcorn-made-from-sorghum/

  3. Rewiring the Brain-Body Connection for Healing w/ Ashleigh Di Lello

    Show notes

It was such a joy to have Ashleigh back on the show. Her story inspires me every time I hear it. She was told she wouldn't live past her teenage years, and she refused to accept that. In this conversation, she opens up about her first and second health journeys that brought her to a place of real surrender, and how she chose to rewire again. I loved how she explained the brain in such a simple, practical way, and how beautifully she ties neuroscience and faith together. I think this episode will give you a lot of hope.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    •

The brain does what it practices. Ashleigh compares the brain to AI: it's only as good as the prompt we give it. The thoughts and responses we repeat become the pathways our brain defaults to.

    •

Our bodies hold onto emotional experiences. Stress we carry emotionally doesn't just stay in our minds. It can show up in how our bodies feel day to day.

    •

Regulating and rewiring are not the same thing. Regulation is like turning down the volume on a loud stereo. The stress is still there, but it's not overwhelming. Rewiring goes deeper and changes the way we habitually respond to stress, trauma, and conditioning over time.

    •

Knowing the "why" makes your practices more powerful. Tools like breathing, grounding, and cold therapy can support your nervous system, and understanding what you're doing and why helps magnify their impact.

    •

Healing starts with compassion. Ashleigh reminds us to meet ourselves with kindness, especially in the hardest seasons.

Tune in now with a friend who needs hope on their health journey.

Ashleigh’s Bio: Ashleigh Di Lello is a Brain Coach and the founder and creator of Bio Emotional Healing®, a neuroscience-based method that helps clients around the world work through emotional trauma, limiting beliefs, anxiety, and the effects of chronic pain and illness. Despite being told by doctors she wouldn't live past her teenage years, she refused to give up and discovered the power of rewiring the brain-body connection. She went on to become an elite athlete, TV and Broadway performer, entrepreneur, Brain Coach, and keynote speaker. Ashleigh's mission is to bridge neuroscience, faith, and human transformation.

  4. Ditch the All-or-Nothing Mindset: Simple Healthy Habits for a Busy Life w/ Wasim Syed, Jazz Leaf & Amanda Rocchio

    Show notes

This episode was such a fun change of pace. Instead of a doctor or scientist, I sat down with three health and wellness friends, Wasim, Jazz, and Amanda, who flew in from across the country to be here. Each of them shared how they got started, and I learned things I never knew, like the accident that completely changed Jazz’s path. We talked about what drives us crazy in the health world, how to sort through all the noise, and what you can stop stressing about.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    • Ingredients matter, not just calories. Calories only tell part of the story. What’s actually in your food matters just as much.
    • Ditch the all-or-nothing mindset. You don’t have to change everything at once. Jazz and Amanda both encourage starting where you feel comfortable and keeping a few simple health habits you can lean on when life gets busy.
    • Use common sense to cut through the noise. Ask who funded the study, look up how a food is actually made, and pay attention to how your own body responds. Even healthy foods don’t work for everyone.
    • Small changes at home add up. Simple shifts in your environment, like your lighting, your water, or keeping a calm, tidy space, can make a bigger difference than you’d expect.

Tune in now and share this one with a friend!

About Wasim Syed: Wasim, known online as @imjustwasim, is a lifestyle and wellness content creator focused on helping people make cleaner, more informed choices about food, ingredients, and everyday products. Through simple, easy-to-understand content, he shares healthier swaps, ingredient education, and practical ways to live a more intentional, non-toxic lifestyle.

About Jazz Leaf: Jazz ditched the 9-to-5 grind after years in corporate America to pursue her passion: cooking. She is a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and a former private chef for NBA athletes. After years of meal prep, catering, cooking classes, and private cheffing, she is now a full-time recipe creator. Jazz specializes in quick, beginner-friendly healthy recipes that take 30 minutes or less and use 10 ingredients max. She’s also a mom to a 3-year-old!

About Amanda Rocchio Amanda Rocchio (Meixner), aka @MeowMeix, is a nutrition creator who started MeowMeix while meal prepping for work. She spent years thinking “healthy” meant restriction and dieting. After recovering from an eating disorder in high school, she realized real health is about fueling your body with the right foods and understanding why they matter, and that’s what she loves most about what she does. Today, over a million people follow her for real-food guidance, simple recipes, healthy swaps, and practical nutrition tips.

  5. What Babies Today Are Missing in Their Gut (And Why It Matters) w/ Dr. Stephanie Culler

    Show notes

This conversation is one I truly believe can change lives. Dr. Stephanie Culler helped me see that a baby's gut bacteria are one of the most overlooked pieces of their health. The first 1,000 days of life shape so much more than I ever realized. What struck me most is that so few parents, and even pediatricians, are hearing about this research. I walked away wishing every pediatrician could hear it, and every mom too. Share this one with all your friends with littles!

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    • The first 1,000 days matter more than we realize. A baby's gut microbiome is built during this early window. What happens there is connected to their digestion, immune system, and brain development, and its effects can reach into adulthood.
    • Babies today have different gut bacteria than babies a generation ago. Stephanie led the My Baby Biome study, the largest U.S. study to profile the infant gut microbiome. It found that many babies today are missing key bacteria that used to be common.
    • C-sections, antibiotics, and feeding choices all shape a baby's gut. Knowing how they affect gut bacteria simply helps parents make informed decisions.
    • Gut bacteria are the missing piece alongside nutrition. Gut bacteria play an important role in how a baby digests and uses that nourishment. We talk about how to make sure a baby's gut microbiome is in a good place!
    • Gut health matters at every age. We also talked about adult gut health, why fiber is so important for feeding good bacteria, and why researchers are paying close attention to the rise in colorectal cancer among younger adults.

Tune in now and share this one with a parent friend who needs to hear it!

    About Dr. Stephanie Culler

Stephanie Culler, Ph.D., is the co-founder and CEO of Persephone Biosciences, where she is pioneering microbiome-based medicines to transform human health. She is the lead author of the My Baby Biome study, the largest U.S. study to profile the infant gut microbiome, and her work spans applications from infant health to oncology. Stephanie earned her Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology and has authored more than 20 scientific publications and patents.

  6. How Their Health Struggles Became Their Mission w/ Hunter Stoler & Jasyra Santiago-Hines

    Show notes

I loved having two of my internet friends here in Utah to record this episode! Hunter and Jasyra's stories reminded me so much of how I got started on Instagram. None of us set out to become "health influencers." We each just wanted to share what had helped us on our own health journeys. They both started out struggling with their own health, and they used those struggles as the push to learn, make changes, and share what they found with all of us. This episode is a good reminder that everyone starts in a different place., what matters is that you start. I loved this conversation and learned so much more about both of them than I knew before. I know you'll walk away feeling encouraged instead of overwhelmed.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    • Your health struggles can become your motivation. Hunter and Jasyra each share the personal health stories that started their journeys, and how those hard seasons turned into the reason they now help others live healthier.
    • Everyone starts in a different spot, and that's okay. There's no perfect starting line. Wherever you are right now is a good place to begin, and comparing your journey to someone else's only gets in the way.
    • Small swaps at home add up. We talk about the simple changes they've each made at home that ended up making a bigger difference than they expected. It's proof that you don't have to overhaul everything at once.
    • How to decide who to listen to when the health world gets loud. With so much conflicting information online, Hunter and Jasyra share how they sort through the noise and decide which voices they trust.
    • What to stop stressing about. They share the one thing they wish their followers would stop worrying about, plus what they're most excited about in the health world right now.

  7. The Power of Small Habits in Midlife Wellness w/ Heidi Swapp

    Show notes

I feel like Heidi and I have lived parallel lives — there were so many moments in this conversation where I found myself nodding along, thinking "that's exactly how it happened for me too." We have so many similarities in our stories, and some really interesting connections along the way. I'm so grateful for her vulnerability in sharing her story with us — she's just so real and relatable. If you're looking for a little inspiration to take your next step, or you're standing at the very beginning of your own health journey, Heidi's wisdom is exactly what you need to hear.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    • Health advice isn't the problem — the approach is. We all know we should sleep more, drink water, eat protein, and move our bodies. Heidi digs into why sleep in particular is often the first thing to go for women in midlife, and why "knowing better" so rarely translates into "doing better."
    • "Shifts" instead of goals. Heidi's program is built around small, sustainable changes she calls "Shifts" — and she explains why this approach works so differently than a traditional goal, resolution, or restrictive fitness plan.
    • Self-forgiveness over self-judgment. Instead of grading a habit pass/fail, Heidi teaches women to grade their efforts and extend themselves the same forgiveness they'd offer a friend. It's a small mindset shift that changes how sustainable change actually feels.
    • Identity change comes before behavior change. Heidi walks through what happens when a woman moves from "I need to exercise" to "I'm someone who takes care of her body" — including her recent thinking on happiness itself as a habit you can build.
    • Community changes everything. Heidi shares why building and sticking with new habits is so much easier when you're not doing it alone, and how community becomes one of the biggest predictors of lasting change.

Tune in now and share this one with a friend who needs to hear it.

    About Heidi

Heidi Swapp is a creative entrepreneur, designer, author, and storyteller who has spent more than 25 years inspiring women to embrace creativity and tell their stories. Through @heidiswapp, she continues to share her passion for creativity, connection, and living a meaningful life.

Now, Heidi is bringing that same curiosity and energy to women’s health and longevity. Through @joinshiftcollective, she is passionate about helping women in midlife see their future differently—not as a time to slow down, but as an opportunity to feel stronger, healthier, and more alive.

Heidi’s philosophy is simple: lasting change happens through small “shifts.” She now works privately with women, helping them make realistic changes in their daily habits, mindset, movement, nutrition, and overall wellness.

  8. Making Nutrition-First Healthcare a Standard, Not a Luxury w/ Dr. Cheryl Lee Eberting

    Show notes

Dr. Cheryl Lee Eberting is paving the way in the functional medicine world. Her focus on nutrition first and prescriptions second is a mission I really align with, and I'm so glad she's tackling this challenge head-on. I think this is going to become a powerful tool for my listeners and honestly, it's an approach I hope the rest of the medical world follows one day. If you've ever left a doctor's appointment feeling unheard or frustrated you don’t have access to the tools you need, this conversation is just for you! Here are a few keys from our discussion:

    •

"Normal" labs don't mean optimal health. Cheryl Lee breaks down why so many moms get told everything looks fine on paper while still feeling exhausted, foggy, or just "off" and why that gap is exactly what nutrition-first care is designed to close.

    •

Functional medicine doesn't have to be out of reach. Through AZOVA, she's built a way for regular families to access functional medicine doctors, labs, and ongoing monitoring without the traditional cost and access barriers.

    •

Monitoring matters more than a one-time test. Instead of a single snapshot of your health, AZOVA's ongoing monitoring piece lets you actually track how your body responds over time, and adjust from there.

    •

Supplements should be personal, not generic. Recommendations are built around each person's actual labs and needs, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

    •

You don't have to wait to start. Cheryl Lee shares small, practical steps a mom can take this week to start moving toward nutrition-first health, even before signing up for anything.

Tune in now and share this one with a friend who is looking for access to more “whole”istic wellness.

    About our Guest:

Dr. Cheryl Lee Eberting is a former NIH scientist, physician, and serial entrepreneur who founded AZOVA, a patented digital health platform helping people access affordable, personalized preventive care — from at-home lab testing to integrative primary care. She's been named Utah's #1 Female in Technology, an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and led AZOVA to be named Utah's fastest-growing company in 2023. Her mission is simple: build a healthcare system that's accessible, affordable, and actually helps people extend their healthy lifespan.

  9. Changing the Conversation Around Periods w/ Amber English

    Show notes

I first met Amber earlier this year at an expo, and I was completely amazed by her story. From there, I knew I had to have her on the podcast. In this episode, we get into how she built her company from the ground up, but also the beautiful role her faith has played along the way, including the story of her husband. I left this conversation feeling so uplifted and inspired, and I know you will too. Amber is doing so much good in the world, and I can't wait for you to hear her heart behind it.

Period freedom is real, and it changes everything. Amber breaks down what actually shifts for a woman once she stops dreading her cycle and why that freedom is worth pursuing.

    •

Buy One Give One isn't just a giving program. Amber shares what she's witnessed firsthand on trips to give women access to safe period products, and why access impacts everything from health to education.

    •

The conversation around periods needs to change, starting at home. Amber offers real, practical guidance for moms introducing this topic to their daughters for the first time.

    •

Faith can shape how you build a business. Amber opens up about her faith journey in building her business and with her husband's story. Faith has guided the company from day one and her faith is inspiring!

  10. Clothing 101: What's Really Touching Your Skin w/ Hannah Dunning

    Show notes

I've been on my non-toxic /less-toxic journey for almost 20 years now, and clothing is still one of the areas I'm just barely getting into. That's the thing about a health journey, everyone is at a different step. Maybe this episode is old news for you, or maybe it's the first time you've ever thought about what's touching your skin all day long. Wherever you're starting from, just take it one step at a time. The more we as consumers ask questions and demand better, the more this industry has to change.

I loved this conversation with Hannah and everything she's doing in this space. It's such a good reminder of the power of one voice. What she's built started with her just asking questions, and now she's working to change an entire industry.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    • Check your underwear! Hannah's research points to our undergarments — especially bras and sports bras — as some of the most important pieces to reconsider, since they sit directly against sensitive tissue for hours at a time.
    • Sweat changes everything. When our pores open up during a workout (or just a hot day), our skin absorbs more of whatever our clothes are made of and treated with — which makes workout gear one of the first places to upgrade.
    • Not all "certified clean" labels mean the same thing. GOTS certification actually tests the finished garment for over 100 different chemicals, which is a much higher bar than a lot of the sustainability buzzwords on clothing tags.
    • "Natural" fabric isn't always the full story. Hannah walked us through why Tencel lyocell tends to be a cleaner process than conventional bamboo, even though both get marketed as eco-friendly.
    • Our clothing laws haven't caught up. The regulations governing what's allowed in American clothing are decades old, which is part of why Hannah is working directly with brands, manufacturers, and even House Representatives to push for the country's first clothing safety bill.

  11. Breast Cancer Screening Is Broken: What Every Woman Should Know w/ Dr. Jennifer Simmons

    Show notes

I love this conversation so much. At its core, it's about empowerment — education, knowing your options, and taking charge of your own health instead of waiting for someone else to hand you a plan. Dr. Jenn Simmons has spent her career cutting through mainstream noise around breast health, and I love how committed she is to creating something new instead of just accepting the way things have always been done. If you've ever felt confused or scared by the conversation around breast cancer risk, hormones, or screening, this episode will change the way you think about all of it.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    • You need a health plan, not just a treatment plan. Conventional medicine is built to treat sickness — it's rarely built to help you build actual health. Dr. Jenn breaks down why so many women are missing this piece entirely.
    • Mammograms miss more than you'd think. Standard mammograms miss up to 40% of breast cancers, and Dr. Jenn explains why the diagnostic difference between mammogram and non-mammogram screening isn't as clear-cut as we've been led to believe.
    • Not every cancer cell becomes cancer. Roughly 25% of the time, cancer cells found in breast tissue never actually progress into cancer — a fact that changes how we should think about diagnosis and next steps.
    • Screening needs to look at the whole picture. Dr. Jenn points out that similar numbers of women die from fractures as from breast cancer, yet our screening conversations rarely account for context like this.
    • You can't make an informed decision without information. From dense breast tissue to hormone replacement therapy, Dr. Jenn walks through what women actually need to know — not just what they've been told — before making decisions about their own health.

Send this to a women in your life who needs it!

    Bio of the guest:

Dr. Jenn Simmons didn't just step away from breast cancer surgery — she walked out and sparked a revolution. As the founder of PerfeQTion™ Imaging, she's disrupting the fear, confusion, and medical dogma that have controlled women's breast health for generations. At PerfeQTion™ Imaging, she's transforming how women are screened for breast cancer with technology that's safer, smarter, and kinder to the body — no radiation, no compression, no trauma, because peace of mind shouldn't hurt. She's the author of The Smart Woman's Guide to Breast Cancer and host of the Keeping Abreast podcast, and she's on a mission to open PerfeQTion™ Imaging centers across the country and around the world — giving every woman access to safe, painless breast cancer screening, and the power to prevent a diagnosis instead of just reacting to one.

  12. JI ATHLETES: From a Mental Health Break to Fueling a Grand Slam Comeback w/ Amanda Anisimova

    Show notes

In the coming months, you're going to see some really exciting collaborations coming to Just Ingredients. We're partnering with world-class athletes who understand that when performance matters, ingredients matter — and there is no better place to start than with Amanda Anisimova. Amanda has been so open about her mental health journey, including her decision to step away from professional tennis in 2023 at the height of her career. That kind of vulnerability is rare in the professional athlete space, where the pressure to push through no matter what often runs so deep. I appreciate how honestly she talks about that season of her life, and I think this conversation is going to mean a lot to anyone who's ever felt like they needed permission to stop and take care of themselves first. This episode is coming out right before the US Open, and we are cheering Amanda on every step of the way!

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    1. Stepping away can be the strongest move you make. Amanda opens up about walking away from tennis in 2023 for her mental health, and what that journey looked like for her.

    2. Rest looks different than we think. She shares what genuine rest looked like during her break, and the changes she made during that season that she still holds onto today.

    3. Coming back on her own terms. Amanda talks about what made her feel ready to return to the court, and how she manages pressure differently now.

    4. Fueling a body built for the world stage. From what "clean ingredients" means to her as a professional athlete to the routines she leans on most for training and recovery, Amanda gets real about what it actually takes behind the scenes.

    5. Redefining success. She opens up about her support system, what she'd tell a young athlete, life on tour, and how her definition of success has changed since her comeback.

Share this episode with your favorite tennis fan!

    Bio of the guest:

Amanda Anisimova is a professional tennis player and one of the top-ranked women in the sport today. After stepping away from the tour in 2023 to prioritize her mental health, Amanda made a powerful return — reaching back-to-back Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2025 and climbing into the world's top 10. Known for her powerful, aggressive playing style, Amanda has become just as respected for her honesty about burnout, rest, and what it really takes to build a sustainable career at the highest level of professional sports.

  13. The Neuroscience of Becoming Your Best Self w/ Craig Manning

    Show notes

This might genuinely be my favorite episode I've ever recorded! Dr. Craig Manning completely shifted how I think about stress, fear, and the stories we tell ourselves every single day. I walked away from this conversation seeing my own mind differently, and I think you will too — especially if you're a parent trying to raise kids who talk to themselves with kindness instead of criticism.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    • Fear isn't real — we create it. Dr. Manning explained that fear doesn't exist in reality; it's something our brain manufactures. Once you understand that, you can start choosing a different response.
    • Learning is the opposite of fear. The more we're in a state of genuine learning and curiosity, the less room fear has to take over — and chronic stress makes learning (and remembering) so much harder.
    • Self-talk is neuroscience, not just a buzzword. We hear "self-talk" everywhere on social media, but Dr. Manning breaks down what's actually happening in the brain — and how inaccurate self-talk quietly reshapes our behavior.
    • Discipline and self-criticism are not the same thing. One builds you up, one tears you down, and most of us have been mixing them up for years.
    • Kids learn their self-talk from watching us. One small shift in how we speak to ourselves tonight could start rewiring how our kids talk to themselves for life.

Everyone could benefit from listening to this podcast!

  14. Constipated to Consistent: What Your Kid's Gut Is Trying to Tell You w/ Dr. Sheila Kilbane

    Show notes

I love episodes like this one, because they remind you that the answers we're looking for are usually simpler than we think. We talk to a lot of experts on this show, but what stood out most about this conversation with Dr. Sheila Kilbane is how practical it all is — real, everyday solutions for something so many parents deal with and rarely talk about. If your child struggles with constipation, mood swings, sleep issues, or just seems "off" and you can't quite figure out why, this episode connects the dots in a way that actually makes sense. No complicated fixes here, just real answers, rooted in simple everyday practices.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    •

Constipation is way more common than we think. It's not some rare issue, it's affecting a huge number of kids and adults, often quietly.

    •

The gut and the brain are constantly talking to each other. Backed-up digestion can show up as irritability, meltdowns, anxiety, or trouble focusing, long before there's an obvious tummy complaint.

    •

Most of our serotonin is made in the gut, not the brain. Which means gut health has a direct line to how our kids actually feel, day to day.

    •

Sleep, mood, and poop are more connected than you'd guess. Restless nights and rough moods often trace back to what's happening in the gut.

    •

The warning signs aren't always digestive. Things like dark circles or skin bumps can be early gut clues most parents never learn to connect.

Tune in now and share this one with a friend who needs to hear it!

  15. No More Excuses: What to Do When Motivation Runs Out w/ Noelle Pikus Pace

    Show notes

Noelle Pikus Pace was ranked #1 in the world in skeleton when a freak accident shattered her leg and her Olympic dream in an instant. Most people would have walked away right there. Noelle came back the very next season and won the World Championship by the largest margin in the sport's history, and years later stood on an Olympic podium with a silver medal around her neck, her husband and kids by her side. We talked through what that whole journey taught her about consistency, mindset, and taking ownership of your very next decision. If you've ever felt "stuck," waiting for the right moment to start showing up for yourself, this conversation is a must listen for you! In this episode:

    •

From #1 in the world to a shattered leg. Noelle walks through the freak accident that ended her Olympic dream in 2005 — and the season that followed, when she came back to win the World Championship by the largest margin in the sport's history.

    •

Why "stuck" is usually a waiting problem. Noelle unpacks her central belief that we stay stuck because we're waiting for life to calm down, for confidence to show up, or for someone else to change and why progress actually starts with your very next decision.

    •

What consistency is really built on. Noelle and Karalynne dig into why motivation runs out and what actually holds up when life gets busy plus where most people go wrong when they're chasing better health or bigger goals.

    •

The Daily 3 and the 60-second rule. Two simple tools Noelle uses to turn tiny daily decisions into lasting identity change and why she believes small moments shape us more than big goals do.

    •

Mindset on the track and at home. Noelle shares how the way she chooses to see hard situations has shaped outcomes in both her sport and her family life. Noelle also opens up about how becoming a mom changed her definition of winning.

    About Noelle Pikus Pace

Noelle Pikus Pace is an Olympic silver medalist, two-time World Champion, and 26-time World Cup medalist in the sport of skeleton. In 2005, ranked #1 in the world, she was struck by a runaway bobsled in a freak accident that shattered her leg and her Olympic dreams — only to come back the next season and become the first American woman to win the Skeleton World Championships, by the largest margin in the sport's history. At the 2010 Vancouver Games she competed on a sled built by her husband, finishing just shy of the podium, before returning one final time in 2014 to win Olympic silver with her husband and two children by her side; her celebration leap into the stands was named the USOPC's "Moment of the Games." Outside of sport, Noelle is a best-selling author (Focused and No Excuses), holds an MBA, and is a mother of four. She now speaks to corporate audiences around the world, helping teams and leaders turn setbacks into comebacks through focus, resilience, and intention.

  16. Finding Hope in Cancer Treatment w/ Dr. Antonio Jimenez

    Show notes

This is one of the episodes that has stayed with me since we hit record. Dr. Antonio "Dr. Tony" Jimenez has spent more than 30 years in integrative oncology, and getting to sit down with him and learn about his approach to cancer care was genuinely one of the most inspiring conversations I've had on this podcast. We talked through his 7 Key Principles of Cancer Therapy, and dove deep into nutrition, detoxification, and the connection between emotions and cancer — topics I know so many of you are curious about. If you know someone walking through a cancer diagnosis or treatment right now, please send them this episode. I think it will give them hope that there are so many options out there.

Note: this episode was recorded in a different setting than usual, and you may notice a few small technical differences along the way, but we think our editor worked her magic, making it almost unnoticeable!

    In this episode:

    1. The 7 Key Principles, explained. Dr. Tony breaks down why he believes cancer can't be approached from just one angle, and introduces the framework that guides his entire practice: non-toxic therapies, immunomodulation, detoxification, restoring the microbiome, full-spectrum nutrition, oxygenation, and emotional/spiritual healing.

    2. Full-Spectrum Nutrition. Karalynne and Dr. Tony talk through what "full-spectrum nutrition" actually means, common mistakes people make with food and cancer risk, and where to start if you want to eat in a way that supports your body

    3. The emotional side of healing. Dr. Tony shares what he's observed in patients who do the inner emotional work, and what he tells someone who's just been diagnosed and might be scared for the road ahead.

    4. Light, sound, and hope. Dr. Tony explains the light and sound therapies he's worked with for over two decades

Dr. Antonio Jimenez, M.D., N.D., is the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of the Hope4Cancer Treatment Centers, with locations in Tijuana and Cancun, Mexico. For more than 30 years, Dr. Jimenez has focused his work on the study, clinical research, and implementation of integrative strategies related to cancer, chronic infections, and immune disorders. Known to his patients and colleagues as "Dr. Tony," he developed the 7 Key Principles of Cancer Therapy®, the framework detailed in his book Hope for Cancer: 7 Principles to Remove Fear and Empower Your Healing Journey. Dr. Jimenez and Hope4Cancer were featured in the Truth About Cancer docuseries, watched by millions worldwide, and he received the organization's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. 17. From Seed to Scoop: Growing Microgreens Into a Daily Drink w/ Halie and Ricardo Camacho

    Show notes

This one has been two years in the making. I sit down with Ricardo and Halie, the husband-and-wife team behind Mico's Micro Farm, to finally tell the full story of how Just Ingredients' new microgreens drink came to life. What started as their own family's search for healing and health turned into a farm, a friendship, and now a greens drink flavored with only real food. In this episode, Ricardo and Halie on to walk through the whole journey: the health scare that started it all, what it really takes to grow microgreens the right way, why heavy metals are such a big deal in this category, and what it took to scale a small farm up to something that could supply this product. If you've been waiting for this drink, you're going to want to hear the story behind it before you try your first sip.

    In this episode:

    • From family struggle to farm. Ricardo and Halie share how watching one of their kids struggle with their health pushed them to search for answers, and how that search turned into Mico's Micro Farm.
    • The connection. Long before this greens drink idea came to be existed, Ricardo was personally delivering microgreens to Karalynne. Hear how that relationship grew into a 2+ year journey to bring this product to life.
    • Why growing environment matters. Ricardo and Halie break down what makes their growing process different from typical produce farming, and why soil quality has such a direct impact on the nutrition and safety of what ends up in your kitchen.
    • The heavy metal problem in greens powders. Not all greens powders are created equal. They explain why heavy metals are such a common concern in this category, and what their process does differently to address it.
    • Scaling without losing quality. Going from local deliveries to a national product isn't simple. Ricardo and Halie talk through the unexpected hurdles of scaling up, and what they're most proud of in the quality they've maintained along the way.
    • The Just Ingredients Difference. We talk about the many ways that this new drink is unique to any other greens on the market. We are so excited to get this microgreens drink into your hands.

    About Ricardo & Halie:

Ricardo and Halie are the co-founders of Mico's Micro Farm. They started this after watching one of their kids struggle with their health and realizing how hard it was to find food they could actually trust to nourish them. Together they grow microgreens and turn them into powders and wellness blends that make real nutrition simple to add to your day. What began as their family's search for better food now supplies fresh product and ingredient-grade powders to brands they believe in, including the microgreens powder behind Just Ingredients' own products.

  18. Cellular Healing, Detox, & Hormone Balance w/ Dr. Daniel Pompa

    Show notes

Are you wondering if fasting will actually work for you, or why it hasn't worked the way you hoped? In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Daniel Pompa, a leading expert on cellular health and fasting, who shares the personal health crisis that first sent him down this path. He breaks down why fasting is doing something so much deeper in the body than most of us realize, and why it isn't a one-size-fits-all approach — especially for women.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    1. Fasting is about a lot more than weight loss
Dr. Pompa breaks down what's actually happening on a cellular level when we fast — and why the number on the scale is really just a side effect of something much bigger. We also get into autophagy: what it is, when it kicks in, and how the body uses fasting to clear out old, damaged cells to make room for new ones.

    2. Why eating less all day can actually backfire
This one might surprise you. Dr. Pompa explains why "grazing" and constantly under-eating can send the body into a stress response that actually works against fat loss and detox — the opposite of what so many of us have been taught.

    3. Fasting as a form of detox We talk about how fasting helps the body release stored toxins as it burns fat, what "detoxing the cell" really means, and why your body won't prioritize burning fat or detoxing if it doesn't feel safe first.

    4. Finding the right fasting approach for you
From feast-famine cycles to block fasting to partial fasting, Dr. Pompa lays out the different protocols and who each one is actually for, plus the practical, real-life stuff: what breaks a fast, how to ease into it, and how to fit fasting into a life that includes kids, travel, and busy seasons.

This episode is a must-listen if you've ever felt confused, discouraged, or even a little afraid of fasting. My hope is it helps you feel more confident about whether, and how, fasting fits into your own health journey.

    About Dr. Daniel Pompa:
Dr. Daniel Pompa is a respected leader in the health and wellness space, educating practitioners and the public on the origins of inflammation-driven disease and the therapeutic applications of diet variation, fasting, cellular healing, and detoxification. Although trained as a chiropractor, his authority is rooted in his own battle, having overcome neurotoxic illness and heavy metal poisoning using his own unique cellular detoxification strategies.

Dr. Pompa's journey back to health led him to a voracious passion for research and learning beyond what is often readily understood. A relentless self-experimenter with a passion for healing others, he speaks about removing the cause of illness and inflammation, going upstream, and following a multi-therapeutic approach to achieve healing.

Dr. Pompa and his wife, Merily, live in Park City, Utah, with their 3 dogs and 2 cats. Their 5 grown children all professionally fulfill the Pompa purpose (and promise) as well.

  19. What Our Food Scientist Won't Buy at the Supplement Store w/ Ruston Pack

    Show notes

In this episode, I sit down with Ruston Pack, our Food Scientist and Director of Quality and Regulatory at Just Ingredients, who's spent 7 years in R&D, manufacturing, and food science, and has seen firsthand some of the wildest things that happen behind the scenes in the supplement industry. Ruston pulls back the curtain on what's actually happening inside a supplement bottle between the day it's made and the day you take it, and some of it might surprise you.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    •

Supplement labels don't work like you think We talk about the difference between a Nutrition Facts Panel and a Supplement Facts Panel, and why that distinction matters. Ruston breaks down whether the amount listed on a label is exactly what's in the product, and whether companies only have to hit that number on day one, or all the way through the expiration date.

    •

Why supplements break down over time Light, oxygen, moisture, heat — supplements are fighting a slow battle against all of it from the moment they're manufactured. We get into why certain ingredients are especially hard to keep stable, and what you can look for as a consumer.

    •

Gummies are the hardest format to get right If you've ever wondered why your gummy vitamins taste a little different bottle to bottle, this is why. We talk about why water is the enemy of stability, what actually happens to melatonin and other actives as gummies sit on a shelf, and why some companies use large overages to compensate. Ruston also gets into the creatine conversation, and why the gold-standard powder form gets tricky the moment it's mixed into a gummy or a drink.

How to shop smarter We close out with the practical part: what to actually look for on a label, what separates a company that's cutting corners from one that's genuinely trying to do formulation right.

This one is a must-listen if you've ever tossed a supplement in your cart without a second thought. My hope is it helps you feel a little more confident reading labels and asking better questions about what you're actually giving your family.

  20. What a Holistic Pediatrician Wishes You Knew About Your Kids' Health w/ Dr. Ana Maria Temple

    Show notes

In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Anna Maria Temple for a conversation every parent needs to hear. We talk about what’s really going on beneath the surface when it comes to kids’ health—and how symptoms like eczema may be pointing to much deeper root causes.

Here are a few of my biggest takeaways from our conversation:

    1. Glyphosate exposure and children’s health

We talk about glyphosate, a common herbicide found in many conventional foods, and why reducing exposure matters—especially for kids. Dr. Temple shares how environmental toxins like this can impact development and long-term health, including concerns around inflammation and chronic conditions. Choosing more whole, organic foods can be a simple but powerful step for families.

    2. Eczema is not just a skin issue

Eczema isn’t just something to manage with creams and topical treatments. It’s often a signal that something deeper is going on in the body—like inflammation, gut imbalance, or nutrient deficiencies. We discuss why it’s so important to look at the full picture, including diet and possible lab testing when symptoms persist.

    3. The connection between eczema and other conditions

We also talk about the patterns Dr. Temple sees in practice, including links between eczema, ADHD, and other immune-related challenges.

This conversation is such an eye-opener for any parent who’s trying to better understand what their child’s body is communicating. My hope is that it helps you feel empowered to ask better questions and look deeper when something doesn’t feel right.
