Men’s Hormones, Weight & Health with Chloe Pappas
Low testosterone, stubborn belly fat, low energy, poor sleep, and changes in your strength or libido can leave you wondering what’s actually going on with your body.
This podcast helps you understand the why behind your symptoms instead of focusing on a single number, medication, or quick fix.
I’m Chloe Pappas, a Physician Associate at Neos Functional Medicine.
Here, I break down men’s hormone health, testosterone, metabolic health, insulin resistance, stubborn belly fat, sleep apnea, GLP-1 medications, peptides, supplements, and the other factors that can affect how you feel.
You’ll learn what should be checked before starting TRT, why you can still feel tired even when your testosterone goes up, how sleep apnea can affect your hormones and weight, why insulin resistance is connected to visceral fat, and how nutrition, sleep, movement, and treatment can work together.
The goal is simple: help you understand what may be contributing to your symptoms, what questions to ask, and what your options are before making decisions about your health.

If you are trying to lose weight, there is one part of your health you cannot afford to ignore. Your sleep. Most people never connect sleep apnea to stubborn belly fat, low testosterone, or thick blood, but the link is real and it matters.
In this video, I'm going to break down how sleep apnea affects insulin resistance, visceral fat, testosterone, and hematocrit, and why you may not fit the picture of what you think sleep apnea looks like.
⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 If You Don’t Understand Sleep Apnea, You Can’t Lose Weight
0:29 What sleep apnea actually is
1:03 How interrupted sleep raises stress hormones
1:31 The insulin resistance connection
2:01 Why visceral fat and sleep apnea feed each other
2:39 You do not have to be overweight to have it
2:53 Obstructive vs central sleep apnea explained
3:36 Why low testosterone alone is not the full story
4:08 How hematocrit complicates TRT
4:54 At home sleep studies vs sleep labs❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Can sleep apnea cause weight gain? Yes, interrupted sleep raises stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline repeatedly through the night, which can worsen insulin resistance and make visceral fat harder to lose.
Do you have to be overweight to have sleep apnea? No, you can have sleep apnea without being significantly overweight, and there are different types, including obstructive and central sleep apnea.
Does low testosterone always mean you need TRT? Not necessarily, because undiagnosed sleep apnea can be a hidden contributor to low testosterone, and testosterone therapy alone will not fix an underlying sleep problem.📱 RESOURCES

This Overlooked Ingredient Helps Men Lose Stubborn Belly Fat Fast
Show notes

You keep hitting your protein goal and the belly fat will not budge. There is a reason for that. Most men are missing one simple nutrient that controls blood sugar, hunger, and insulin resistance, and it has nothing to do with protein. This one gap in your diet could be the reason your insulin stays high, your cravings stay strong, and your midsection refuses to change no matter how clean you eat.
In this video, I'm going to explain why protein alone cannot fix stubborn belly fat and show you the overlooked nutrient that makes losing it easier.
⏱️ TIMESTAMPS

0:22 Why men focus only on protein
1:00 Why protein alone is not enough
1:35 Insulin resistance explained
2:23 The missing ingredient revealed
2:46 How fiber controls blood sugar
3:34 Why fiber curbs hunger and cravings
4:00 The order you should eat your meal
4:30 Easy ways to add more fiber❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
What nutrient helps men lose stubborn belly fat?
Fiber is the nutrient most men overlook. It slows sugar absorption into the bloodstream, supports better blood sugar control, reduces insulin spikes after meals, and helps you feel full longer, all of which make losing stubborn belly fat significantly easier over time. Why is protein alone not enough to lose belly fat?
Protein helps you preserve muscle and feel satisfied after a meal, but it does nothing on its own to manage blood sugar or insulin resistance. Without enough fiber, blood sugar swings more throughout the day, insulin stays elevated, and visceral fat around the midsection becomes much harder to burn, even when calories and protein intake look perfect on paper. What is the best order to eat food for weight loss?
Eat fiber rich foods first, like vegetables or a salad, then move to your protein, and save concentrated carbs like rice, bread, or potatoes for last. This order slows how fast sugar hits your bloodstream, blunts the insulin spike after the meal, and keeps hunger more stable for hours afterward.📱 RESOURCES
