The LongHer Life

Alternative Health, Health & Fitness, Nutrition

The LongHer Life is the women's longevity podcast that says the quiet part out loud. Science backed and soul led, in the same episode, from the same person.

Host Brittany Ford is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and the founder of Biohacking Brittany. Every week she breaks down what's actually working for women's health: peptides, hormone testing, fertility and postpartum, metabolic health, mitochondria, nervous system regulation, longevity protocols, perimenopause, and the soul work underneath all of it.

You'll get real protocols with the dosing and the tradeoffs, her own lab results read out loud, honest reviews of what she's testing on herself, and long conversations with the doctors, researchers and founders she actually trusts. No wellness theatre, no supplement she hasn't taken herself.

If you want to feel good in your body now and still be strong at 90, you're in the right place.

Formerly Biohacking with Brittany. New episode every week.

  2. NAD+ for Women: Why It Drops in Your 30s, NMN vs IV vs Injections, Glutathione, CoQ10 and Delayed Release Supplements with Nicholas Signore from The Rhythm Line

    Show notes

NAD+ is everywhere in the longevity space right now, and there's still so much confusion about it. Is it a peptide? (It's not, it's a coenzyme.) Why does it start dropping in your early 30s? And why can't you just swallow it in a capsule and call it a day?

If you want to do this work with me, work with me one on one. I see women every week for peptides, nervous system, nutrition and longevity, and you can book a free 15 minute call with me here.

In this episode I break down what NAD+ actually does for your energy and repair, then I sit down with Nicholas Signore, co-founder of The Rhythm Line, on the day RHYTHM launched. Nick shares his story, from getting sober almost two years ago to meditation, breathwork and Joe Dispenza, and how buying an NMN supplement that had almost nothing in it led him and his cardiologist partner to build their own.

We get into all seven ingredients (NMN, Setria glutathione, CoQ10, PQQ, trans-resveratrol, vitamin D3 and black pepper extract), why delayed release capsules matter when stomach acid breaks down NMN and glutathione, their third party Eurofins results, and how NAD+ IVs, injections, patches and nasal sprays compare to a capsule.

My husband and I take RHYTHM, two capsules a day, and we both notice it in our energy. This episode is in partnership with The Rhythm Line.

    I TALK ABOUT:

00:00 What NAD+ is, why it declines in your 30s, and why you can't just swallow it

02:29 The seven ingredients in RHYTHM

05:28 Why delayed release capsules matter

07:25 Third party testing, and why women's heart health is underserved

11:13 Meet Nick: almost two years sober, meditation and Joe Dispenza

18:29 Microdosing and the default mode network

20:02 Getting ripped off by an NMN supplement, and how RHYTHM started

24:37 Why these seven ingredients, and beadlets vs delayed release

30:34 The Eurofins results: 667 mg of NMN and no heavy metals

34:13 How NAD+ supports energy, recovery and repair as we age

38:31 CoQ10 and PQQ for the heart (and why they're in fertility formulas)

41:11 NAD+ IVs, injections, patches, nasal sprays or capsules

  3. GLP-1s for Women: How to Raise Your Own GLP-1 Naturally, Ozempic vs Mounjaro vs Retatrutide, Microdosing, and Protecting Muscle and Bone

    Episode 457

    Show notes

GLP-1s are peptides. The P literally stands for peptide. Your body makes its own GLP-1 after every single meal, and it's gone within a couple of minutes by design. The drugs are that same signal, engineered so it never goes away, and that one difference explains both how well they work and almost everything women struggle with on them.

If you want to do this work with me, work with me one on one. I see women every week for peptides, nervous system, nutrition and longevity, and you can book a free 15 minute call with me here.

In this episode I break it all down. What a peptide actually is, how peptide drugs are built, and what your own GLP-1 does in your body. Then how to raise your own GLP-1 with protein, soluble fiber, healthy fats, fermented foods, meal order and how fast you eat, with real meal ideas (and why fasting doesn't raise it the way people think).

Then I go drug by drug: semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus), tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound), retatrutide, the new oral GLP-1 pill, and generic semaglutide here in Canada. We talk half-life and steady state, what the labels actually say about dosing, what microdosing really means, what's different for women (bone, muscle, fertility and hair loss), and what happens when you come off.

I start with a personal story too: I sliced my finger open this week, and how my meditation practice let me regulate my nervous system in the ER.

My free GLP-1 boosting recipe booklet for women is coming very soon. Subscribe to the podcast, my Substack, or follow me on Instagram so you hear when it drops.

  4. Why Your Peptides Aren't Working: Cortisol, Stress, Gut Health, Sleep, GLP-1s, Retatrutide, BPC-157 and a Guided Future Self Activation | The Exhale Masterclass

    Episode 456

    Show notes

This is my live masterclass, The Exhale, from September. A few hundred women showed up live, and it's one of my favourite classes I've ever taught, so I'm giving you the whole thing here.

We go deep on peptides, longevity and the nervous system, and why the mind and nervous system have to come first before the body work and the advanced tools. I share my own postpartum anxiety story, the pattern I keep seeing in women, and why we can't out-peptide a dysregulated nervous system. Then I break down how cortisol shuts down growth hormone peptides, undoes gut peptides like BPC-157 and KPV, overrides sleep peptides, and why GLP-1s without protein, strength training and nervous system work put your muscle and bones at risk.

A note before you press play: about 18 minutes in there's a 12 minute guided future self activation, eyes closed. If you're driving, please don't close your eyes. Just listen, and come back to it when you can sit or lie down.

It ends with a full live Q&A: Retatrutide and microdosing, protein hacks and powders, MOTS-c and SS-31, creatine, BPC-157 and TB-500 for inflammation, glutathione, fasting, Kisspeptin before IVF, and labs.

If you want to do this work with me, work with me one on one. My three month program is open, I also do one off consultations, and you can book a free 15 minute call.

    I TALK ABOUT:

    • 00:00 Before you listen (and a note if you're driving)
    • 03:21 Welcome to The Exhale
    • 05:17 My postpartum anxiety story

  5. How to Be Like Yourself Again, and Better: Identity Over Goals, Why Willpower Runs Out, One Decision a Day and Why Nothing Sticks | Part 3/3

    Episode 455

    Show notes

Part one was how to look like yourself again. Part two was how to feel like yourself again. Part three is who you actually are, and it's the one that decides whether any of it sticks.

I open with something heavy from this week: I can't talk about peptides on Instagram anymore. I had to archive about 20 posts, my TikTok was deleted, and I've been blocked from DMs for three days. So I talk about building on borrowed land, and where I can still speak freely.

Then the three women I meet over and over. The one who knows exactly what to do and still hasn't started. The one who changes for a few weeks and then life creeps in. And the one who's waiting to feel ready. I go into why willpower runs out, why it's cyclical and tied to your hormones, and the five days I took completely off this month while my HRV sat in the 80s.

Then what actually builds it: deciding who she is out loud instead of setting a goal, one decision a day that she would make, changing the inputs instead of the intentions, and refusing to do it alone. Plus the question I asked a client this week that stopped her cold: what does it cost you to feel like this for another year?

This is for education, not medical advice. If you want to do this work with me, The Spark is open, and there are three spots left. One on one, 12 weeks, future self activations plus labs, nutrition, protocols and peptides.

  6. How to Feel Like Yourself Again, and Better: Losing Your Spark, Tired but Wired, 3 AM Wake Ups, Cortisol, HRV and the Future Self Activation | Part 2/3

    Episode 454

    Show notes

Today is how to FEEL like yourself again, and better, because you can get the body and still not feel like you.

I start with the sentence I hear on every call: "I just don't feel like myself." Then the three ways it actually shows up. Feeling flat with no spark, even when life looks good on paper. Tired but wired, snapping over nothing, awake at 3 AM. And numb, living in your head, disconnected from your own body.

Then the solutions. Breath and long exhales, heart coherence at about six breaths a minute, and what your HRV and resting heart rate are really telling you. The labs I want you to look at, including a four point cortisol test and blood work through Function Health. And the deepest one, the future self activation I do every morning, plus the alignment questions that decide whether any of it sticks.

If you want to do this work with me, The Spark is open. One on one, three months, activations plus labs, nutrition, protocols and peptides. There are 8 spots and application calls are 15 minutes.

    I TALK ABOUT:

00:00 Welcome back, and what part 2 is

01:44 What women mean by "I don't feel like myself"

03:08 The Exhale replay, and The Spark

05:00 Feeling flat, with no spark

07:36 What flat looks like on your labs

09:04 Tired but wired, and the snapping

10:05 The cortisol curve and the 3 AM wake up

14:37 Numb and out of your body

19:15 Breath, long exhales and regulating daily

21:38 Heart coherence, and what your HRV is telling you

  7. How to Look Like Yourself Again, and Better: Protein, Lifting Heavy, DEXA Scans and Muscle Loss on GLP-1s | Part 1/3

    Episode 453

    Show notes

I don't want you chasing the woman you were two years ago or before kids. I want you stepping into the woman you're becoming. This is part one of a three part series on how to look like yourself again, and better.

We get honest about weight and body composition: why lighter doesn't always mean better, why so many women are trading fat for frailty, and why a GLP-1 plateau usually isn't a dose problem. Across published trials of semaglutide and tirzepatide, lean mass makes up 25 to 39% of the weight lost, and muscle is the tissue that keeps your metabolism going.

Then I give you my three practical fixes: eat enough protein (one gram per pound of ideal body weight, front loaded in the morning), lift heavy with progressive overload, and stop measuring the wrong thing. I share how I weigh myself around my cycle, why I recommend a DEXA scan once or twice a year, my weekly training split, and the formula I use with every client: regulate your nervous system, build the foundation, then add peptides.

If you want me to build this with you, The Spark, my 12 week one on one program, is open with only eight spots.

    I TALK ABOUT:

    • 05:53 A three part series, and where my peptide content lives now
    • 07:40 Why "and better": the future you, not the old you
    • 11:43 Lighter doesn't always mean better

    • 17:45 The GLP-1 plateau and muscle loss

  8. 10 Things You Don't Know About Me and Why Biohacking with Brittany Is Now The LongHer Life

    Episode 452

    Show notes

Welcome to The LongHer Life, formerly Biohacking with Brittany. To kick off this new era, I'm not giving you a list of supplements. I'm giving you me. These are 10 things you probably don't know about me, and some of them I've never said on the mic before.

I share why I outgrew Biohacking with Brittany, and I read you the letter I wrote to my old self to close that chapter. Then we go deep: growing up in South Africa and moving to Canada at 7, my parents' divorce and caring for them as a teenager, growing up very Christian and where I stand with faith and spirituality now, my breech baby and traumatic birth, and the postpartum anxiety and intrusive thoughts I didn't recognize until I came out of them.

I also open up about the hardest season of my marriage, how I pick up on energy, the signs I keep getting that I'm going to have twins, why I thought I'd never work one on one again, and what it's like being a visionary who still has mom guilt.

If you want to work with me, The Spark, my new 12 week one on one program, is open now. Early bird pricing and the first edition founder's box end September 27.

  9. Microdosing Psilocybin for Women: How Much Is a Microdose, How It Works in the Brain, the Pineal Gland and Crown Chakra, Postpartum Anxiety, Mom Brain and Creativity

    Episode 451

    Show notes

Magic mushrooms used to mean a party drug or a bad trip. Today psilocybin is in phase 3 clinical trials, and more women than you would ever guess are quietly microdosing for anxiety, creativity and the mental load of motherhood. In this episode I share why I microdose, how I do it, and everything I wish every woman knew before she tried it.

I explain what psilocybin actually is, how much a microdose really is (and what I take), and what happens in your brain: the serotonin 2A receptor, BDNF, neuroplasticity, and why the loop of overthinking goes quiet. Then the energetic side: the crown chakra, the pineal gland, how psilocybin literally changes your brain's frequencies, and why sound has always been part of this medicine.

I also get personal. My own microdosing journey before and after postpartum, my Sunday batch cooking ritual, the postpartum anxiety and intrusive thoughts I did not realize I had until I came out of them, and how microdosing helps me stay open to solutions instead of forcing the how.

  10. Peptides and Chakras for Women: HPA Dysregulation, PMOS, Insulin Resistance, Hashimoto's, Hot Flashes and Sleep, Mapped to All 8 Energy Centers | Her Stack Series

    Episode 450

    Show notes

There are two maps of the same body that almost never get laid on top of each other. One is over a thousand years old and runs up your midline naming energy centers. One is about a hundred years old and runs up the same midline naming glands. In this episode I put them on top of each other, and then I add the peptides.

I go center by center, all eight of them, and for each one I give you what the ancient text actually says, what the modern reading says, the gland that lives there, what shows up in women's health at that center, the peptides that run it with honest evidence strength, and then a practice: an affirmation, a meditation, a visualization, and three questions to sit with.

I promise you there is not another podcast episode on this. The idea came to me in a meditation.

If you want me to build this with you, my new one on one longevity program opens in September and the waitlist is live now. I am at capacity and my 1:1 consults are closed, so the waitlist is the only way in, and spots go first come first serve: https://biohackingbrittany.com/pages/waitlist

I also share what is changing behind the scenes: the September rebrand, the new program structure that my A4M peptide therapy certification confirmed for me, the planner, the deck I am designing, and the psychic reading that I am not ready to share yet.

    WHAT I COVER

    • Why my one on one consults are closed, and what is replacing them in September
    • The peptide certification moment: you cannot out-peptide a dysregulated nervous system
    • Two maps of the same body, 1577 and 1927, and why neither one wins
    • The classical colors are not the rainbow, and what they actually are
    • Root and the adrenals: the CRH to ACTH to cortisol cascade, HPA dysregulation, and Selank
    • Sacral and the ovaries: kisspeptin as the master switch, PMOS, MOTS-c and mitochondrial density
    • Why a 16th century text called a woman's body cyclical, and research did not include us until 1993

  11. Ovarian Longevity: Why Your Ovaries Age 15 Years Before The Rest Of You, AMH Truths, Cysts, PMOS, Endometriomas + The Sacral Chakra Nobody Told You About

    Episode 449

    Show notes

You've probably heard that your ovaries age 2.5x times faster than the rest of your body. I went looking for that study. It does not exist.

In this episode I trace that number back to an uncited supplement company blog post, and then I give you the one that is real: ovarian aging shows up 15 to 20 years earlier than in any other tissue in your body. Your ovaries are not a fertility organ. They are the organ that sets the pace for your bones, your heart, your brain and how long you live.

This is the first episode built on my four pillars: Nourish, Stack, Live and Align. I also share what is changing behind the scenes, including my practice, my planner, and where this brand is going next.

    WHAT I COVER

    • The 2.5x ovarian aging myth and where it actually came from
    • Why the Stanford organ aging clocks never included an ovary
    • Senescence and fibrosis: it is not that the seeds run out, it is that the soil goes hard
    • Why less than 2 percent of venture funding goes to women's health, and 90 percent of that goes to fertility
    • Your full lab panel: AMH by age, antral follicle count, day 3 FSH and estradiol
    • Why AMH does not predict whether you will get pregnant this month
    • The birth control trap: if you are on hormonal contraception your AMH is wrong by 14 to 55 percent
    • PMOS and why a high AMH is not extra time
    • Cysts: functional, hemorrhagic, dermoids, and why the pill does not shrink one you already have
    • Endometriomas, and what cystectomy actually costs your ovarian reserve
    • Premature ovarian insufficiency, the 2024 criteria change, and why POI is not early menopause
    • What the food research does and does not support
    • CoQ10, melatonin, inositol, DHEA, vitamin D, NMN and omega 3, ranked by real human evidence
    • Rapamycin, the VIBRANT trial, and ovarian tissue freezing
    • The pelvic bowl in the classical Sanskrit text, and what it actually describes
    • Jing, Tian Gui, and how Chinese medicine predicted the end of fertility at 49
    • How misalignment shows up in the body, and the guardrail I insist on
    • Why clinical hypnosis is the woo that actually works

  13. My Personal Peptide Stack and Why I'm Taking a Break: BPC-157, TB-500, Microdosing Retatrutide, AOD-9604, GHK-Cu, NAD, Selank and Semax

    Episode 447

    Show notes

I'm a biohacker with a peptide fridge, and right now I am injecting absolutely nothing. That is probably not what you expected me to say. The internet makes it look like the goal is more compounds, stacked higher, forever. It is not. The goal is to use the right tool for a specific window, then come off it.

In this solo episode I open my actual fridge. I walk through every peptide I have run recently, the real dose, why it went in, why it came out, and why I am on a full break right now. I cover my injury repair pair BPC-157 and TB-500, my body composition experiments with AOD-9604 and a Retatrutide microdose, my beauty and longevity layer with GHK-Cu and NAD nasal spray, and my brain and mood pair Selank and Semax. Then I explain why I am cycled off everything, and how to build your own stack for a female body instead of copying mine.

This is my personal experience for education, not medical advice, and peptides are provider territory. If you want me to help you build and sequence your own stack around your goals and your labs, you can book a free call here.

  14. Peptides Just Got National Validation: Inside the Landmark FDA Vote on BPC-157, TB-500, KPV, MOTS-c, DSIP, Epitalon + Semax

    Episode 446

    Show notes

This is a landmark day for peptides! I recorded this at 6 AM the morning between day one and day two of the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) meeting, and I'm breaking down exactly what happened, why it matters, and what it means for you depending on where you live.

On day one, the committee voted YES on all four peptides they reviewed: BPC-157, TB-500, KPV, and MOTS-c. This went against the FDA scientists' own recommendation. There was an audible gasp in the room. Today they're voting on DSIP, Epitalon, and Semax, and I expect all three to pass too. If you'd like to work with me one-on-one, you can book a free call here.

  15. Optimize your Blood Sugar: Belly Fat, Prediabetes, Peptides, Type 3 & 4 Diabetes, Insulin Resistance, CGMs, Inositol and GLP-1's | Her Stack Series

    Episode 445

    Show notes

Blood sugar is the master dial. If your energy crashes at 3pm, if the cravings run you, if the belly weight will not move no matter how clean you eat, this is not a willpower problem. It is a blood sugar problem, and it is fixable.

In this episode I break down blood sugar for women from the ground up: what glucose and insulin actually do, the six levers that throw them off, the full diabetes spectrum from prediabetes through Types 1 to 4 (including the lean, skinny fat Type 4 that surprised me), and the exact labs and CGMs to run. Then I give you my full stack across four pillars: nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, and peptides.

I also get into how the GLP-1s and the growth hormone peptides move your blood sugar in opposite directions, PMOS (the newly renamed condition you have known as PCOS) where insulin is the real root, and how to actually get a CGM here in Canada now that the US apps like Levels do not ship north of the border. If you want me to build this protocol with you, you can book a free call here.

Even if you are perimenopausal and running hot. Even if you have been broken for years.

I share the exact protein-before-bed hack that ended my 3 AM wake-ups, the caffeine half-life math (why your 2 PM coffee is still in your system at 10 PM), why I do not recommend melatonin for most women, the 3 sleep peptides I trust the most (DSIP, Epitalon, Selank), and the fringe biohacks that actually move the needle. 18. The Complete Perimenopause Protocol: Peptides, HRT, Labs, Nutrition, Workouts & Supplements That Actually Work | Her Stack Series

    Episode 441

    Show notes

Perimenopause is not a slow fade. It is a hormonal storm that lasts about a decade. Estrogen swings, progesterone slips first, testosterone quietly declines, and growth hormone falls alongside all of it. That is why the workout that worked at 25 stops working at 45. It is why women come to me saying "I am doing everything right and the scale will not budge." Your biology is changing, and your approach has to change with it.

In this episode I'm giving you my top recommendations for every pillar so you walk away with a real protocol, not a pile of overwhelm. We cover the exact biomarker labs to ask for, the truth about Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) now that the black box warning is finally off, the protein and blood sugar shifts your body actually needs in this decade, the strength training and lifestyle biohacks that move the needle, the top supplements that matter, and the foundational and advanced peptide and bioregulator stacks I recommend most often. If you'd like to work with me, you can book a free call here.

  19. Q&A: Where Would We Raise Our Family in Central America?, Wolverine Blend vs. Singles, Selank Peptide vs. Psilocybin & GHK-Cu Body Cream

    Episode 440

    Show notes

This week is a Q&A episode in two parts.

In Part 1, I give you the honest, real-numbers breakdown of the four Central American countries we keep weighing for our family: Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and Mexico. Rent, nannies, food, healthcare, schools, and flights from Canada.

In Part 2, I answer three of the peptide questions you sent me: the Wolverine blend for an ACL tear, Selank vs psilocybin microdosing, and whether GHK-Cu actually works in a body cream.

  20. Body Composition Protocol for Women: Peptides, Growth Hormone, Protein, GLP-1s & The Complete Metabolic Reset | Her Stack Series

    Episode 439

    Show notes

Your body after a baby was never a calorie problem. It is a metabolic one. In this Her Stack episode I am walking you through exactly how to restore your metabolism so body composition follows. The goal is not weight loss. The goal is metabolic restoration. Body comp is downstream.

I am breaking down the four drivers that actually run body composition (insulin, thyroid, sleep, growth hormone), the four pillars to address them (nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, peptides), and the exact peptide sequencing for women. Plus my honest take on GLP-1s including semaglutide, tirzepatide, and retatrutide, where they actually fit, and why microdosing makes more sense than chasing the scale.

I also share what nobody talks about. Eating less postpartum often makes body composition worse. Breastfeeding is sequencing, not failure. Growth hormone is the layer women never hear about, so they plateau and blame their age when it was a fixable signal the whole time.

    I TALK ABOUT:

00:00 Welcome back to the Her Stack series

00:53 Updates: working with me one-on-one and my new peptide planner

06:15 Why body composition not weight, and why metabolism not calories

07:01 The four drivers and four pillars framework

09:00 Driver 1: Insulin resistance and why stubborn middle fat is an insulin problem, not a calorie problem

11:30 Driver 2: Thyroid, and why TSH alone misses Free T3 (the worker hormone)

14:50 Driver 3: Sleep, cortisol, and the loop back to insulin resistance

19:32 Driver 4: Growth hormone, the layer nobody talks about that's blunted postpartum and through aging

22:19 The labs to actually ask for: fasting insulin, Free T3, IGF-1, DHEA-S, plus a 2-week CGM

24:30 Pillar 1: Nutrition (protein floor of 120g, leucine at every meal, food order, fiber, and why you should NOT under-eat)

28:06 Why leucine flips the muscle-building switch

35:00 Pillar 2: Lifestyle and biohacking (lift 3x a week, walk 7-10k steps, zone 2, cold and heat, red light, and the fringe tier honestly)

45:30 Pillar 3: Supplements (creatine, magnesium glycinate, myo-inositol, omega-3, berberine, and breastfeeding sequencing)

51:01 Berberine, AMPK, and "nature's metformin"

55:30 Pillar 4: The peptide stack starts here with AOD-9604

56:00 AOD-9604, the growth hormone fragment, why I am personally taking it right now

01:02:00 MOTS-c, the "exercise in a molecule" mitochondrial peptide

01:05:00 5-Amino-1MQ and releasing the brake on fat cells

01:07:00 Sermorelin, the gentle GH entry (what a secretagogue actually is)

01:10:00 CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, and Tesamorelin for post-weaning GH restoration

01:13:00 The GLP-1 honest take: semaglutide, tirzepatide, and the retatrutide question

01:14:00 Why retatrutide is called the triple agonist and where it fits (and where it doesn't)

    01:19:27 Recap and wrap-up
