93 | What Should I Eat to Lose Weight in Midlife?
Show notes
Trying to lose weight after 40 but feeling confused about what you’re actually supposed to eat?
Eat fewer carbs. Eat more protein. Try fasting. Count calories. Don’t count calories. Track your macros.
With so much conflicting nutrition advice, it’s easy to make healthy eating far more complicated than it needs to be.
In this episode of The Healthy Habits 180 Podcast, LaDawn simplifies midlife nutrition by showing you how to start with a meal you already make instead of completely overhauling your diet.
You’ll also be introduced to The 180 Balance Plate, a simple meal-building framework centered around protein, healthy fat, and fiber-rich carbohydrates.
Whether you’re navigating menopause, working toward weight loss, trying to support your muscle after 40, or using a GLP-1 medication, the goal isn’t to create a “perfect” plate.
It’s to become more intentional about how you build the meals you already enjoy.
Because sustainable nutrition has to work in real life.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
• Why improving your nutrition doesn’t require an entirely new diet or meal plan
• Why protein, healthy fats, and fiber-rich carbohydrates each have a place on your plate
• A better question to ask than, “What do I need to stop eating?”
• How women using GLP-1 medications can apply the framework even when appetite and portion sizes are smallerWhat’s Next?!

In this final episode of the 100 Days Stronger series, we’re bringing everything together by focusing on the foundation that helps your other healthy habits actually work.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:
• The difference between rest and recovery
• How lack of rest can affect your energy, mood, focus, hunger, and workouts

90 | 100 Days Stronger: Support Your Muscle and Protect Your Metabolism After 40
Show notes
If you’re a woman over 40 and your health goals still revolve primarily around losing weight, it may be time to shift the conversation.
In midlife, supporting and preserving muscle matters just as much as losing body fat.
As women move through perimenopause, menopause, and beyond, changes in muscle mass, strength, hormones, and body composition make maintaining muscle increasingly important.
And muscle does far more than help you look “toned.” It supports your metabolism, blood sugar regulation, strength, mobility, balance, and your ability to remain active and independent as you age.
In this episode of The Healthy Habits 180 Podcast, LaDawn breaks down three simple ways women over 40 can begin supporting their muscle now—without over complicating their workouts or nutrition.
In This Episode, You’ll Learn:
• Why maintaining muscle becomes especially important during midlife and menopause
• Why strength training and resistance exercise matter even if you already walk regularly
• How progressively challenging your muscles helps them adapt and stay strong
• Why protein is important for muscle maintenance and recovery
• How rest and recovery support muscle growth and adaptationAs we move toward the final 100 days of the year, this episode is your reminder that you don’t have to wait until January to recommit to your health.
You can begin now! Not by overhauling everything, but by strengthening the foundational habits your body needs most in midlife.
