Dr. Lauren Klosterman, the first physical therapist to join the Holistically Well practice, shares the story of her second daughter’s breech home birth, from a baby who never flipped despite consistent prep to a midwife who arrived just 15 minutes before delivery and used a skilled maneuver to free her stuck arms. She explains how she and her husband made the decision, including the extra testing that confirmed Eloise was a good candidate for vaginal breech birth, and why consistent pelvic floor prep let her deliver with zero tearing. Whether your baby is breech or you’re simply preparing for birth, this conversation is a reminder that you have options, that preparation matters, and that surrender is part of the process.

Acupuncture and dry needling use the same thin, sterile needles, but the reasoning, technique, and clinical goals behind them are very different. In this episode, Dr. Kayla explains where each practice comes from, how a dry needling session differs from acupuncture, and how she uses dry needling in her women’s health practice for pelvic floor tension, diastasis recti, C-section scars, and more. She also explains why any needling treatment works best as one part of a larger plan that includes movement, strength, and lifestyle changes.

Not all pain means something is wrong, and not all pain should be pushed through. In this solo episode, Dr. Kayla explains what pain actually is from a nervous system perspective, how to tell “good” pain (muscle fatigue, soreness, a deep stretch, labor contractions) from pain that needs attention, and shares a simple green-yellow-red traffic light system you can use for yourself, your kids, or your athletes. She also challenges the idea that pain is “just normal” in pregnancy and postpartum, and explains why addressing it early keeps you out of a chronic pain loop.

Katie walks us through the five P's of picky eating (palate, pain, processing, pressure, and power), why the label "picky eater" can become a self-fulfilling identity, and the one phrase that ends dinner-table power struggles.

Dr. Kayla checks in one month into back-to-school season — and shares the patterns she's seeing in the clinic: more cancellations, more reschedules, and more patients admitting they've fallen off their home exercise program. She reframes that dip as a plateau, not a setback, and walks through how to use back-to-school as a personal health checkpoint — with practical morning, midday, and evening check-in points, four go-to habit stacks for busy moms, and how to make new routines stick for the long term.
