Ep 125: Rebounding: Lymphatic Support That Feels Like Play with Fayth Caruso
Episode 125
Show notes
Ep 125 | About thirty seconds into her first rebounding class, Jen stopped worrying about who was watching and started feeling like she was five years old again.
Years after a stroke paralyzed her left side, Jen stepped onto a rebounder this summer expecting to feel shaky. Instead, she found the most fun she’d had working out in years. This week she sits down with Fayth Caruso, a former New York City dancer turned rebounding educator with bellicon, to get into why bouncing feels so good and what it may be doing for your body while you’re busy grinning.
They talk about how rebounding supports your lymphatic system, which has no pump of its own and relies on movement to keep things flowing. Fayth explains why gentle bouncing with your feet on the mat may help wake up the deep muscles of the pelvic floor, and why so many women lean on it postpartum and through perimenopause. Plus, she shares the story of a client who started in her late 80s, scared of falling, and is still bouncing bar-free in her mid-90s.
If high-impact workouts stopped loving you back a while ago, or you’re rebuilding strength and confidence after an injury, Fayth’s “give it three tries” advice is a gentle place to start.
🕒 In this episode:
[04:14] – Jen’s month of morning rebounding classes after years of stroke recovery
[05:28] – How a stranger with hot pink bungees showed up in Fayth’s life twice
[10:47] – How rebounding supports your lymphatic system, and why up-and-down movement matters
[13:16] – Why that first bounce can feel scary, and Fayth’s three-class rule
[15:25] – Rebounding and your pelvic floor: gentle bouncing for postpartum and perimenopause
[20:56] – Spring vs. bungee rebounders, and what to look for in the bounce
[24:57] – Rebounding for balance: the client who’s still bouncing in her mid-90s
[30:54] – What a 10-minute rebounding session can look like at homeFayth’s favorite reminder sums it up: it’s never too late to try something new and feel your body respond.
Meet Fayth Caruso:
Fayth Caruso is a movement educator, choreographer, and fitness professional specializing in rebounding, wellness, and longevity. A former professional dancer in New York City, she went on to own a Pilates studio in Chicago and now helps people improve their fitness, balance, and lymphatic health through rebounding. Through her work with bellicon, she has developed educational programs, workout content, and global partnerships that spread the word about rebounding benefits. Her passion is making movement accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities.🌿 Resources:

Ep 123: Hypnosis & Your Subconscious: Rewiring Who You Learned to Be with Penny Chiasson
Episode 123
Show notes
Ep 123 | Somewhere along the way, you learned who to be. Maybe you were the shy kid, or the one Grandma blamed whenever something went missing. Penny Chiasson found hypnosis as a nurse anesthetist looking for better ways to manage her patients' pain. Now she helps people see how those early labels sink into the subconscious mind, and how to rewrite them.
In this conversation, Jen and Penny talk about how identity takes shape in childhood, from the fear you pick up watching Mom react to a spider to the praise you chase to feel safe and loved. Penny explains why trauma doesn't have to be big to shape a whole life, and how hypnosis can help you rewrite the old stories running in the background. She also shares why a chaotic home can keep the brain stuck in survival mode long after you've moved out.
If you still feel on edge in a calm home, that unease may be part of the same invisible wall you keep running into everywhere else. Give this one a listen.
🕒 In this episode:
4:30 – From nurse anesthetist to hypnotist: the pain management research that started it all
14:00 – Penny's own breaking point with high-functioning anxiety and depression
19:30 – How the subconscious mind builds your identity before age seven
28:30 – Why trauma doesn't have to be big to shape a life
34:18 – Why identity is only the halfway point, and how to avoid building yourself a new cage
35:50 – How a chaotic home and too much clutter keep the brain in survival mode
45:15– "Addicted to chaos": why we repeat old patterns
50:30 – Breaking the Fibro Code and Penny's take on chronic illness and chronic stressThe stories you picked up as a kid can be rewritten, and a home that feels safe gives that work room to stick.
Meet Penny Chiasson:
Penny Chiasson spent 25 years in healthcare, including 15 as a nurse anesthetist, before walking away to help people create lasting change at the subconscious level. She's a board-certified hypnotist and the #1 international bestselling author of Breaking the Fibro Code. She also created The Identity Matrix™ and founded Elite Hypno Pro™, where she trains practitioners to rewire the subconscious and create change that sticks. Ep 121: Healthy Home vs. Green Home: Safer Materials & Air Quality with Andrew Pace
Episode 121
Show notes
Ep 121 | Your home can look gorgeous, check every "green" box, and still be the reason you don't feel well. This week, Jen sits down with healthy home expert Andrew Pace to untangle the difference between a green home and a healthy home, and what it takes to make your space one that supports your health instead of adding to your body's toxic load.
Andrew has spent 35 years and more than 30,000 clients learning where the hidden stuff hides: the off-gassing carpet, the low-VOC paint that's mostly marketing, the mold in the walls, the spray foam nobody warned you about. He and Jen chat about why your indoor air quality matters more than almost anything outside your four walls, how your home's toxic load ties into the inflammation your body is already carrying, and why the goal was never a perfect home. It's a better one you can actually afford.
This one's for you if you suspect something in your house isn't right and you have no idea where to start. If you've been down the Dr. Google rabbit hole at midnight, doom-scrolling mold accounts and feeling more panicked than helped, Andrew's "sensible homeowner" approach is a deep breath and a solid place to begin.
🕒 In this episode:
07:20 – Why your indoor environment matters more than the air outside (we spend 90% of life inside)
10:10 – Green vs. healthy: the difference most well-meaning renovators miss
19:25 – Andy's take on "the house needs to breathe" (and where mold really starts)
24:31 – The inflammation bucket: how your home's toxic load connects to chronic illness
28:56 – The sensible homeowner approach: doing what you can afford instead of chasing perfect
36:35 – The mental-health toll of a toxic home, and why Andy says to log off social media
43:16 – Where 90% of the off-gassing comes from, and where to spend your moneyYou're more in the driver's seat of your home's health than the internet wants you to believe. Small, affordable changes count.
Meet Andrew Pace:
Andrew Pace is a Healthy Home Materials Expert and the founder of The Green Design Center. For more than three decades he's been the trusted resource for homeowners and builders who want the intersection of sustainability and human health, with over 30,000 clients along the way. He hosts the Non-Toxic Environments podcast and specializes in chemical sensitivity and mold-related remediation, including CIRS and MCAS. Episode 118
Show notes

In this conversation, Jen and Ryan talk through what it looks like to bring wellness into your home, from choosing the right infrared sauna (and why heater placement matters far more than the sale price) to the daily cold plunge habit that tests his willpower every single morning. At almost 60 and feeling better than he did in his 30s, Ryan is proof that slowing down and staying consistent can open doors you never saw coming.

26:05 – Infrared sauna heater placement: the detail most people miss
27:07 – The daily cold plunge routine and the mindset it takes to get in
36:10 – Writing a book in the sauna: stillness, focus, and flow
51:10 – Aging with purpose and what a neighbor taught Ryan about presenceWhether you're eyeing your first sauna or just craving a little more stillness in your day, this is a reminder that the good stuff often shows up when you slow down enough to notice it.
Meet Ryan Schiff:
Ryan is a lifelong athlete, former professional hockey player, and, as of this summer, a first-time author. After a health scare in his late 50s, he built a routine around his infrared sauna and daily cold plunge. It was during those quiet sauna sessions that he wrote A Fool's Errand, a book about golf, presence, and the people who shape us along the way.🌿 Resources:

Ep 117: How to Train Your Brain and Regulate Your Nervous System with Dr. Patrick Porter
Episode 117
Show notes
Ep 117 | Every brain ships with a rewrite option. Most of us just never got the manual. This week, Dr. Patrick Porter hands it over: the neuroplasticity behind how the brain rewires and heals, and why light-and-sound tools like BrainTap can help.
In this episode, Jen sits down with Dr. Patrick Porter, creator of BrainTap, to unpack what that rewrite looks like in practice, and what it means for your focus, your sleep, and your stress. Jen shares how she came back from a debilitating stroke, and how retraining her brain with BrainTap became part of her recovery. She and Dr. Porter dig into how light-and-sound sessions can support everything from deep sleep to releasing stubborn weight, why so few of us can meditate on our own, how neuroplasticity means your brain never stops changing, and why the home you live in shapes your brain health more than you'd think.
🕒 In this episode:
8:32 – How light and sound shift your brainwaves (and calm fight-or-flight)
11:03 – "Brain voltage" and building new brain cells
16:29 – Why so few people can meditate on their own, and what to do about it
24:07 – Rewiring old stress and the stories we replay
33:22 – The "Saving Your Brain" study on dementia
46:25 – Creating a home that supports your brain instead of draining itIf you're the tired-but-wired type, the over-thinker, the light sleeper, the one who's tried to meditate and quit in frustration, this one's for you.
Meet Dr. Patrick Porter:
Dr. Patrick Porter, PhD, is the founder of BrainTap and a longtime pioneer in brainwave training. Ep 116: Healthspan vs Lifespan: How to Feel Better as You Age with Bill Quateman
Episode 116
Show notes
Ep 116 | Living longer is one thing. Feeling good while you're doing it is another—and that gap between healthspan and lifespan is what this episode is about.
Bill Quateman has a practical read on why so many of us feel tired, foggy, and a little "off" even when our labs come back fine. He and Jen get into hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA), the at-home test he calls the most foundational look at your own biochemistry, plus why minerals are the spark plugs behind your energy, the truth about mineral deficiency and fatigue, and how the slow metabolic decline that quietly starts in your early 30s doesn't have to run the show. They also talk longevity without the hype and what it really takes to build a healthy, non-toxic home. Jen opens up about chasing her own health backwards after a brain injury and a stroke, and why she brought so many healing tools into her space.
This one's for you if you're taking a cabinet full of supplements with no idea what's working, if you feel not sick exactly but not really well either, or if your energy and focus just aren't what they were ten years ago and you're ready to feel better as you age.
🕒 In this episode:
[04:10] – From a music career signed by Clive Davis to regenerative health
[12:20] – Hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA): the at-home test for your minerals and energy
[16:10] – Why minerals are the spark plugs of energy, and when the slow decline begins
[20:05] – Healthspan vs lifespan: feeling better now, not just living longer
[21:00] – Mineral deficiency, fatigue, and brain fog: testing over guessing on supplements
[27:25] – Turning your home into a healthy, non-toxic healing space: mindset, cleaner air, water, and light
[37:30] – What Bill believes is missing in the conventional medical worldWherever you're starting from, the heart of this one is simple: your body wants to feel good, and it's not too late to give it what it needs.
Meet Bill Quateman:
Bill Quateman has studied holistic health and regenerative medicine for 30 years, including a 32-year mentorship with Dr. Bruce Boyd, a professor of psychiatry at Northwestern University, plus two decades alongside leading regenerative medicine physicians. Since 2000 he's worked in orthomolecular treatment, ozone therapy, and stem cells, learning from pioneers like Dr. Abram Hoffer, one of the founders of orthomolecular medicine. His company, Advanced BioCell, is a concierge regenerative medicine resource that coaches each person to create their own healing strategies in a toxic world.🌿 Resources:

Ep 115: Building a Healthy Home: The 12 Core Principles with Brian Johnson
Episode 115
Show notes
Ep 115 | The materials and construction that go into a home matter. So does its energy. Brian Johnson builds healthy homes that account for both, with small steps that work whether you're breaking ground or already moved in.
Most healthy-home advice stops at non-toxic paint and a water filter. Brian goes deeper. A licensed contractor for 23+ years, he merges building science with building biology into a 12-principle framework for homes that don't just avoid harm, they support how you sleep, breathe, and feel. Jen and Brian discuss mold, EMFs, water, light, quantum energy, and why the walls around you matter more than you think.
This episode is for anyone who wants their home to support their health, whether you're building from the ground up, house-hunting, mid-renovation, or you just want the place you already live to feel better. No blueprint or big budget required.
🕒 In this episode:
[06:20] – The moldy-lumber moment that set Brian on this whole path
[18:25] – What "building science meets building biology" really means (and why the two worlds stay siloed)
[22:30] – Non-toxic building materials that still perform, and what "beyond LEED" looks like
[25:40] – The four types of EMF, and why dirty electricity is the noise you can feel but can't name
[28:00] – Water, light, and air designed as one system: filtration, full-spectrum lighting, and ventilation
[54:00] – The energy of a space: harmonizers and how a home feels
[1:15:00] – Inside "the element," Brian's community of 20 wellness-focused homes north of TucsonYou don't need to gut your house to start. Even a few of these principles can shift how your home feels, and how you feel inside it.
Meet Brian Johnson:
Brian is a general contractor, builder, and triple-certified building biologist, and one of the few people connecting how a home is built to the health of the people living in it. As founder and CEO of Senergy 360, he brings together two worlds that rarely meet, building science and human health, designing homes as living systems that support circadian rhythm, clean air, pure water, low-toxicity materials, and EMF-conscious electrical design. His signature 12 core principles for healthy building are becoming a new benchmark for homes that work with your biology instead of against it. He's also building the Healthy Building Alliance, a national platform connecting healthy-home experts, homeowners, and education.🌿 Resources:

Ep 114: Does an Infrared Sauna Help You Lose Weight? + When to Sauna | Ask Jen
Episode 114
Show notes
Ep 114 | The question I get more than any other, you guys: does an infrared sauna help you lose weight? Today I'm giving you the honest answer—not the sales pitch.
In this Ask Jen minisode, I'm tackling the three sauna questions I hear every single day: whether your infrared sauna can help you lose weight, the best time of day to use it, and whether you should sauna before or after your workout. I'll share what the scale is really telling you (full disclosure: it's mostly water), where the sauna quietly earns its keep, and the personal story behind the 125 pounds I released years ago. Your sauna is a helper, not a magic wand—and once you see how it fits into the bigger wellness wheel, it gets a whole lot easier to use it well.
🕒 In this episode:
[00:00] — Welcome + asking a real person your sauna questions
[5:05] — Does an infrared sauna help you lose weight? The honest answer
[06:20] — Water weight vs. fat, and why hydration matters
[08:15] — What regular sauna use is associated with (circulation, cortisol, sleep, recovery)
[12:05] — Best time of day to sauna: morning vs. evening
[17:17] — Sauna before or after your workout (and the cold-vs-heat myth)Here's what I want you to walk away with: your sauna isn't the thing that does the work—it's the thing that makes doing the work feel good. Stack it onto the habits you already love, and it quietly supports all of it.

Ep 111: Improving Sleep and Recovery Using Frequency-Infused Clothing with Brian Burzynski
Episode 111
Show notes
Ep 111 | What if your clothes could tell your muscles to let go? Not stretch them, not massage them—just signal them to release. That's not a wellness fantasy. That's what Brian Burzynski built.
Jen sits down with her friend Brian Burzynski, founder of Intelligent Threads, to talk about something most of us have never considered: that we're walking around in a constant state of muscular tension—and don't even know it. Life, stress, and years of structural compensation do that. Brian spent 15 years developing frequency-infused textiles with a particle that signals those muscles to release and stay released, supporting structural alignment, deeper sleep recovery, and improved athletic performance. This is the conversation Jen has been wanting to have on this show for two years, and it was worth every minute of the wait.
This episode is for anyone who feels tight even when they're lying still, wakes up more tired than when they went to bed, or has wondered why the same pain keeps coming back no matter what they try.
🕒 In this episode:
00:00 – Introduction: Brian's origin story and the ankle injury that started it all
07:20 – What muscle compensation is and why your pain might be showing up in the wrong place
17:33 – Jen's story: meeting Brian at Paleo FX and what happened to her left arm
24:40 – How frequency-infused textiles work and what's inside the fabric
29:40 – The sleep line: why nighttime is the most important time to use it
36:45 – What's next: neuromuscular activation, EMF support, and emotional well-being layer
37:47 – The bodybuilder test: 339 to 570 watts on the third setSleep better. Move better. Stay in the game longer. Brian's work is a reminder that sometimes the body just needs the right signal.
Meet Brian Burzynski:
Brian Burzynski has spent over 25 years studying structural alignment and how the body compensates when muscles hold tension in the wrong place. He's the founder and CSO of Intelligent Threads, launched in 2016, and the creator of the Synergy Release Method, which he has practiced out of his clinic in Kerrville, Texas since 2000. Brian has worked with professional athletes, elite sports teams, and people who've tried everything else. His clinic's approach: correct the structure, and let the body do the rest.🌿 Resources:

Ep 110: Mold, Air Quality & Passive House Design for a Healthier Home with Paul Kealey
Episode 110
Show notes
Ep 110 | Most builders compete on price. Paul Kealey says the real cost of a new home shows up in energy bills, air quality, and your health.
Paul Kealey joins Jen to talk about why a newer home isn't automatically a healthier one, and what's really driving the mold and air quality problems hiding behind so many walls. We get into passive house design, his BURDEN framework for the hidden stressors in your home, and the real, current mold story unfolding in Jen's own family right now.
🕒 In this episode:
[00:00] – Intro
[09:10] – Passive house design and the five principles behind it
[13:17] – Testing for mold and radon, and what most people miss
[20:05] – Why "new" doesn't mean "healthy": the farmhouse vs. new-build myth
[23:30] – Jen's family mold story, and what the storm exposed
[27:50] – Symptoms to watch for: fatigue, brain fog, poor sleep, allergies
[30:05] – Paul's BURDEN framework and the hidden stressors in your home
[35:05] – House as medicine, and where to start
[39:30] – Where to find Paul and EkoBuiltIf you've never once considered that your house could be the reason you feel off, this conversation is going to change that.
✨ This episode is for you if:
• You've wondered why an old farmhouse can have better air quality than a brand-new build
• You've dealt with mold, allergies, brain fog, or poor sleep and can't pin down why
• You're building, renovating, or buying and want to know what questions to ask first
• You think your home should be supporting your health, not working against itMeet Paul Kealey:
Paul Kealey is the founder of EkoBuilt and a Certified Passive House Consultant who has spent nearly two decades building high-performance homes across North America. He believes the real cost of homeownership shows up after move-in: energy bills, maintenance failures, air quality problems, and retrofits nobody budgeted for. Paul is convinced the housing crisis isn't just about price, it's about building science, and that we already have the knowledge and technology to build homes that are healthier, more resilient, and far less expensive to run over time.
