  1. 160: She Left Pharma at the Height of Her Career to Help People Heal | Tara Mann

    Season 2026, Episode 160

    Show notes

Jim Mann finally gets his “man-to-man conversation” with Tara Mann, a fellow Greenville, South Carolina native and no relation, as far as they know. Tara spent about 11 years as a pharmaceutical rep. Then a documentary about the Gerson Therapy opened her eyes to holistic healing. She walked away at the height of her career, and in 2012 she and her husband Steve founded Cancer Crackdown. The nonprofit walks alongside people facing cancer who have few resources. Tara shares how a crisis of faith and obedience reshaped the way she serves, and why she believes every person needs a path built around them, not the latest influencer’s protocol. She also offers words of hope for anyone newly diagnosed: breathe, get still before the Lord, and remember that peace and rest are weapons too. Stay to the end for her encouragement to HealingStrong groups to gather in person, and a special Promise Bible offer that supports HealingStrong.

HealingStrong's mission is to educate, equip and empower our group leaders and group participants through their journey with cancer or other chronic illnesses, and know there is HOPE. We bring this hope through educational materials, webinars, guest speakers, conferences, community small group support and more.

  2. 159: How Chaga Changed His Family’s Health and His Faith, His Sister's Breast Cancer | Tulsy Ball

    Season 2026, Episode 159

    Show notes

Tulsy Ball spent years producing documentary television for networks like Discovery Channel, History Channel, and Nat Geo. While developing a show about chaga harvesters in Alaska, he learned that compounds from this odd-looking birch mushroom had been studied for breast cancer, the same disease his sister was facing. At the same time, he was dealing with his own health crisis after years of stress and late-night drinking. He began making chaga tea for his sister and himself. When the network passed on the show, he and his brother decided to buy chaga from the harvesters they had already found, and that decision grew into a company.

In this conversation with Jim Mann, Tulsy shares how that path also led him to his wife, to his baptism, and to a walk with the Lord that keeps him going through hard seasons. He talks about the differences between chaga, reishi, and turkey tail, why he favors liquid extracts, and how Chris Wark introduced him to HealingStrong. Tulsy also encourages listeners to pursue conventional treatment like surgery when it is the right option, while doing everything they can to support their bodies and trust God along the way.

  3. 158: The Scan That Broke Her Heart and the Truth That Held Her, Breast Cancer | Sandy Ingram

    Season 2026, Episode 158

    Show notes

Sandy Ingram co-leads the HealingStrong group in Victorville, California, alongside Dan Cook. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2015. She chose a lumpectomy and declined radiation, a decision shaped partly by watching her mother go through radiation in the 1980s. In 2019 she found Chris Wark’s program and bought the whole thing, then put it in her closet because she wasn’t ready for the diet. A new tumor appeared a year or so later. She had no health insurance and no clear options, so she brought the program back out, and her husband joined her in the plant-based protocol.

Her first tumor disappeared, but a second one kept growing. When a fall 2023 scan showed it had grown again, Sandy says her prayers felt like they were hitting the ceiling. She chose to stand on three promises: God will never leave her, He will work all things for her good, and He will direct her path if she trusts Him. On the last night of open enrollment in January 2024, a late call to an acquaintance led to her getting insurance. She chose surgery without chemo and used water fasting in the weeks before it. A PET scan showed no spread, and she has had three clear scans since.

Sandy also talks about finding HealingStrong during her lowest season, driving an hour to the Rancho Cucamonga group, and how God nudged her to start a group closer to home. She encourages anyone in a hard place: God has not forsaken you, and you can trust Him with your whole heart.

HealingStrong's mission is to educate, equip and empower our group leaders and group participants through their journey with cancer or other chronic illnesses, and know there is HOPE. 4. 157: What Your Mouth Might Be Telling the Rest of Your Body | Kim Blaise

    Season 2006, Episode 157

    Show notes

What if part of your healing journey runs through the dentist's chair?

In this episode, host Jim Mann sits down with Kim Blaise, who has spent over 20 years in dentistry and founded Oral Biologics, a free platform that connects patients with vetted biologic dentists across the country.

Kim explains biologic dentistry as a philosophy built on the belief that the body is designed to heal, and that lowering the overall toxic burden gives it more room to do that work. She walks through how biologic offices approach root canals, metal fillings, and extractions, why she recommends starting with a 3D cone beam scan before making any decisions, and how patients can still seek insurance reimbursement at offices that don't take insurance directly.

Kim also shares how her team vets every provider, the free resources available on the platform, and her encouragement for anyone, at any age, who wants to take a closer look at what's happening in their mouth. Jim brings his trademark humor and his own long list of dental work to a conversation full of practical next steps.

  5. 156: Riding for the Ones We Love, Acute Myeloid Leukemia | Marlice Alves

    Season 2026, Episode 156

    Show notes

Marlice Alves returns to the I AM HealingStrong podcast six and a half years after her diagnosis with acute myeloid leukemia. Marlice is a longtime nurse and leads a HealingStrong group in northern Rhode Island. This time she and host Jim Mann talk about the Heal-a-Thon, a grassroots fundraiser where HealingStrong groups raise support in their own creative ways. Marlice shares how her daughter's indoor cycling studio hosted two special rides. The first was a Friday night worship ride set to Christian music. On Saturday morning, riders tied balloons to their bikes bearing the names of loved ones lost to cancer. She explains why the biggest win wasn't the dollars raised but the chance to introduce new people to HealingStrong, and she encourages group leaders to join in without comparing totals. Jim shares his group's plans to walk the Swamp Rabbit Trail, and the two reflect on slowing down the way Jesus did. Marlice closes with encouragement for anyone newly diagnosed: take a deep breath, start learning, and hold on to hope. The next Heal-a-Thon is October 3, and groups can also choose another date that works for them.

  6. 155: No Evidence of Disease Was Not the Finish Line She Expected, Breast Cancer | Maria Schenkel, Part 2

    Season 2026, Episode 155

    Show notes

When Maria Schenkel first joined Jim Mann, she was days away from a mastectomy. Months later, she returns to share what happened next. She walks through the pathology results that surprised her, including a primary tumor that had not doubled in size and partial necrosis, along with lymph involvement that brought hard new decisions. She explains why she chose to continue her own integrative plan rather than pursue a full axillary lymph node dissection. She also describes two circulating tumor DNA tests that showed no evidence of disease, and the moment her new oncologist acknowledged the work she had done.

Then the conversation turns to what comes after. Maria speaks openly about the heartbreak she never expected in survivorship, including the loss of her grandfather, whose bedside she kept in Germany, and of several friends from the cancer community. One of them passed just before this recording. Out of that grief comes a message about life being precious, purpose, and community. She stresses that she is not advocating skipping conventional treatment, but encouraging people to ask more questions and look within. Jim adds his own perspective from ten years out.

Listen to Part One of their conversation on episode 121.

  7. 154: Their Cancer Documentary Didn't End the Way They Filmed It, Stage IV Prostate Cancer | David and Kathi Peters

    Season 2026, Episode 154

    Show notes

Three Words: A Couple's Journey from Cancer to Wholeness streams globally from September 25 through October 4, 2026.

Learn more at threewordsdoc.com or get tickets and watch the trailer at https://buytickets.at/globalstoryfilms/2412234.

David and Kathi Peters return to the podcast almost three years after their first appearance (Episode 116), this time to talk about the documentary they've spent that time filming. It releases September 25 as a streaming premiere on Redeem TV. David is still living with stage IV metastatic prostate cancer. The growth has slowed but continued to spread, and he has since gone through radiation on his spine, sacrum, and prostate, a shift away from the purely natural approach they hoped would be enough toward a blend of traditional and integrative care. They talk candidly about the parts of the journey that didn't make it into a tidy ending, the fear, the disappointing test results, and the isolation that can creep in even inside a strong community. Kathi speaks openly about caregiver burnout and the discipline of caring for herself, through red light therapy, sauna, exercise, and simple things like a cup of coffee with a friend, so she has something left to give. David shares how a newer clinic in Tennessee has brought encouraging results and how living with purpose, rooted in their faith, has shaped how they've faced this diagnosis. It's an honest look at what a cancer journey actually looks like when it doesn't wrap up neatly, and a reminder that showing up for each other, and for God, matters more than having all the answers.

  8. 153: "Cancer Is Not a Death Sentence", Large B-Cell Lymphoma | Mark Mateya

    Season 2026, Episode 153

    Show notes

Mark Mateya, a Carlisle, Pennsylvania attorney and former studio musician, was diagnosed with large B-cell lymphoma after a routine biopsy on a small arm growth came back malignant. After a rocky first appointment with an oncologist who initially confused his chart with another patient's and warned that forgoing chemo would be "suicide," Mark declined chemotherapy and found Chris Wark's Square One program and Healing Strong. He shifted to a whole-food, plant-based diet with juicing, reduced stress by selling his law practice (while staying on part-time), and pursued a mix of therapies including RGCC/SOT (a blood-based treatment through a lab in Greece) and multiple visits to the Immunity Therapy Center in Tijuana. He's candid that he does not have a formal NED diagnosis, but reports his circulating tumor cell count has dropped from 2.8 to 1.4 over roughly three and a half years. Mark credits his faith and connection with fellow Healing Strong leader Karen McKeon/Maxson for keeping him grounded early on, and now leads a Healing Strong group in Carlisle, where he originated the "Heal-a-Thon" fundraiser (modeled loosely on Penn State's THON) to raise money and awareness for the organization. The episode closes with his message to newly diagnosed listeners: they are not alone, cancer is not a death sentence, and they have time to think, pray, and take responsibility for their health.

Richardson Jr. John shares the story of his father, Dr. John Richardson Sr., who left a conventional medical career in the 1970s to treat cancer patients with laetrile, a compound found in apricot seeds. He walks through his father's clinic, the patients he treated, the raids and lawsuits that followed, and how that legacy became John's own life's work through Richardson Nutritional Center and Operation World Without Cancer. Jim also shares a piece of his own story, a stage four melanoma diagnosis in 2016 and a recent scan that came back clear. Together they talk about faith, trials, and staying hopeful in the middle of a hard diagnosis.

  10. #2 of the Top Ten Tour: Healing Secrets of Apricot Seeds and Laetrile Therapy | John A. Richardson Jr.

    Season 2026, Episode 151

    Show notes

The Top 10 Tour continues with one of our most-downloaded conversations of all time.

John Richardson — president of the Richardson Nutritional Center and Operation World Without Cancer — joins Jim Mann to tell a story that's been in his family for over fifty years. His father, Dr. John A. Richardson, became a Bay Area folk hero in the 1970s for offering laetrile to his patients, and a national headline in June 1972 when his clinic was raided. The arrest didn't end the movement — John says it started one, leading to G. Edward Griffin's book World Without Cancer and a grassroots network that grew to a million members strong.

John walks Jim through the science as he understands it: what amygdalin is, why he believes the cyanide warnings have been overstated, and what his father documented in Laetrile Case Histories. He also opens up about the family business, where the seeds are grown, and why he believes this story is finally getting a hearing.

Jim also shares his own first encounter with apricot seeds after his 2016 stage four melanoma diagnosis.

  11. #3 of the Top Ten Tour: Healing Through Forgiveness, Faith and Natural Medicine | Chris Wark

    Season 2006, Episode 150

    Show notes

After being diagnosed with cancer as a young man, Chris turned to research, whole food nutrition, and radical lifestyle change, and has spent the years since helping others do the same. In this conversation, Chris and Jim talk about what he calls the "beat cancer mindset": taking full personal responsibility for your health, forgiving yourself and others, and choosing daily to trust God with your fear instead of letting it drive the journey.

Chris opens up about the early days after his diagnosis, reading George Malkmus's God's Way to Ultimate Health, converting to a raw food diet almost overnight, and searching for confirmation that he wasn't just following "some quack." He and Jim talk candidly about faith under pressure, the discipline of forgiveness, why gratitude functions like a "superpower," and how a cancer diagnosis can turn life "from black and white to color." Chris also shares how becoming a father mid-treatment gave him a new reason to fight, and why community, not a single expert, is what actually gets people through.

Whether you're newly diagnosed, walking alongside someone who is, or simply working on your own health, this episode is a reminder that the most powerful tools for healing (diet, movement, faith, and forgiveness) cost nothing but your willingness to change.

    Season 2026, Episode 149

    Show notes

Julie DeKam was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma in December 2015 after insurance requirements delayed proper imaging and a thermography doctor misread her lump as hormonal. She underwent a double mastectomy and six rounds of chemo, then discovered Chris Wark's Square One program and fired her oncologist when he pushed further treatment. She went all-in on a plant-based, holistic protocol (juicing, coffee enemas, supplements, detox work) alongside naturopathic care, and her hormone markers normalized within a year. She later joined Chris Wark's support team, where she's worked since 2017. She also shares how her cancer journey and a difficult divorce deepened her trust in God's sovereignty, and how she eventually remarried.

  13. #5 of the Top Ten Tour: Uncovering Radical Remission | Dr. Kelley Turner, PhD

    Season 2026, Episode 148

    Show notes

Dr. Kelly Turner (PhD, Radical Remission & Radical Hope author) joins Jim to discuss her 15 years researching unexplained cancer recoveries. After discovering 1,000+ documented "spontaneous remission" cases in medical journals, she found these healings aren't random. Survivors share 10 common factors (diet, exercise, stress reduction, intuition, positive emotions, and more) that boost the immune system, working alongside conventional treatment rather than replacing it. Kelly and Jim talk about why this research often falls outside oncologists' focus, the science behind laughter and immunity, and how these same healing factors have shown up in recoveries from ALS, Alzheimer's, and HIV. A hopeful, science-grounded conversation about the body's capacity to heal.

  14. #6 of the Top Ten Tour: Overcoming Cancer Fears: Emphasizing Healthy Living & Faith | Kathy Gilkey

    Season 2026, Episode 147

    Show notes

This is a Healing Strong podcast episode featuring Kathy Gilkey, a Florida-based follicular lymphoma survivor.

Kathy was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma in 2017 after finding a lump under her arm. She declined chemo and radiation, instead following a protocol from a fire captain whose wife had stage four kidney cancer: 100 days of juicing (about 90% greens with apple), no solid food. Her tumor shrank from a 4 to a 1, and her oncologist told her to keep doing what she was doing.

After moving from California to Arkansas, the stress and emotional upheaval of leaving her home church and community led to depression, and the cancer returned as a spinal tumor. She did 10 rounds of radiation but had a severe reaction when starting chemo (throat closing, numbness) and stopped, returning to diet-based healing plus emotional/inner healing counseling. She's now been in remission for three months, with oncologist visits every six months.

Other points covered: she still juices (using an inexpensive Black & Decker juicer, running pulp through twice for more yield), largely avoids sugar and carbs while having added back some meat and fruit, and her husband hasn't adopted her diet but is supportive and healthy in his own way (they cook separate meals). Her background as a florist exposed her to chemical sprays, and she later became a church counselor. She's now launching a new Healing Strong support group in Englewood, Florida, hosted at a faith-based community facility called EPIC. She closes by encouraging newly diagnosed listeners with Jeremiah 29:11 and a message of trusting God and avoiding negativity.

  15. #7 of the Top Ten Tour: Detoxification, Immune Therapies & Environmental Toxins in Rising Young Adult Cancer | Dr. Tony Jimenez

    Season 2026, Episode 146

    Show notes

Dr. Jimenez cites a 2024 Lancet study reporting a 79% rise in cancer among young adults globally between 1990 and 2019, with a 28% increase in deaths, across 17 cancer types. He attributes this to environmental toxins, obesity, diet, and early-life exposures, and names three top toxicities he targets in treatment: aluminum, glyphosate, and EMF radiation.

He walks through daily detox practices (coffee enemas, shilajit, hydrogen water) and practical EMF-reduction steps (Wi-Fi off at night, phone away from the bed, grounding sheets).

He explains when Hope4Cancer still uses chemo, radiation, or surgery — low-dose IPT chemo for tumor debulking, targeted "spot radiation" for pain control, and stents for obstructions — despite the clinic's non-toxic-first philosophy.

He then details the clinic's "seven key principles," spending the most time on emotional/spiritual health (his upcoming book, Emotions and Cancer, out March 2025) and introduces Davida, a new five-part bioimmunotherapy meant to upregulate the immune system without targeting specific cancer-cell receptors (unlike checkpoint inhibitors such as Opdivo/Keytruda).

Host Jim, a stage IV melanoma survivor, shares his own remission story, and Dr. Jimenez recommends he ask his oncologist about the Signatera circulating-tumor-cell test for ongoing monitoring.

  16. #8 of the Top Ten Tour: Confronting Stage Four Prostate Cancer Through Faith & Holistic Healing | David & Kathi Peters

    Season 2026, Episode 145

    Show notes

Part of the Top 10 Tour: 100K Strong

When David Peters was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer, he and his wife Kathi made an immediate decision: go all-natural. As professional filmmakers, they're now documenting their own healing journey — including treatment at Hope4Cancer in Mexico, biological dentistry to remove mercury amalgams, and the RGCC ("Greek") test that pinpoints which supplements are actually working.

Recorded live at Healing Strong's 10th anniversary conference in Houston, this conversation covers the fear of going against an oncologist's orders, the emotional toll (and unexpected gift) of a diagnosis, why community is essential on a healing journey, and what it means to choose to heal rather than fight. David and Kathi also share how their upcoming documentary aims to answer the three questions every newly diagnosed person asks: Can I do it? How do I do it? Will it help me?

This episode originally aired as part of our regular series and is being re-shared as one of the most-loved conversations from the I Am Healing Strong podcast archive.

  17. #9 of the Top Ten Tour: Healing Advanced Cancer Through Holistic Approaches | Dr. Francisco Contreras, Oasis of Hope Clinic

    Season 2026, Episode 144

    Show notes

What if healing depends as much on your mindset and spirit as it does on your treatment plan? In this episode, host Jim Mann sits down with Dr. Francisco Contreras, who is the director, president, and chairman of Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico. He talks about his new book, The Art and Science of Undermining Cancer.

Dr. Contreras shares the philosophical foundations his father built the hospital on 60 years ago, explains where chemotherapy and immunotherapy each earn their place in treatment, and dives into cutting-edge developments like dendritic cell vaccines and CAR T-cell therapy. But the heart of this conversation is bigger than protocols: it's about fear, faith, and why Dr. Contreras believes every improved outcome, big or small, is a miracle that has to be maintained. Jim also shares more of his own stage-four melanoma journey and how his mindset shifted after diagnosis.

  18. #10 of the Top Ten Tour: Stage 4 Prostate Cancer & the Unexpected Blessings | Brad and Becky Corley

    Season 2026, Episode 143

    Show notes

    Summary:

Brad Corley was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer (Gleason 9) on December 10, 2021 — one day after retiring from a 38-year career. After bone scans and consultation with a New Orleans oncologist, the cancer was deemed metastatic and incurable but treatable; doctors gave him a 3-7 year outlook. Brad and his wife Becky had already begun shifting toward healthier living before the diagnosis, and immediately doubled down — adopting a raw, plant-based diet and daily carrot juicing (inspired by Chris Beat Cancer/Square One) starting just two days after the diagnosis. Brad underwent hormone therapy and surgery through an MD Anderson clinical trial. Over two and a half years, he dropped from about 240 to about 170 pounds, regained energy, and his oncologist reportedly told him he shows no evidence of disease. The couple credits their faith, gratitude practice, and community support — they started a Healing Strong group in Mobile, Alabama, with around 12-15 regular members, many of whom don't have cancer but joined proactively. The episode closes with their message to newly diagnosed listeners: lean on faith, build a supportive community, and pursue lifestyle changes alongside medical treatment.

  19. 142: The Lymphatic System: Your Body's Hidden Healing Network | Dr. Jennifer Gramith

    Season 2026, Episode 142

    Show notes

Naturopathic doctor Jennifer Gramith joins Jim to demystify the lymphatic system — a network most people only associate with cancer surgery and lymph node removal. She explains how the lymphatic system serves as the body's primary filtration and immune defense, why a "congested" lymph system contributes to fatigue, allergies, and chronic illness, and how assisted lymphatic therapy works to clear blockages and calm the nervous system. The conversation also covers her own background moving from conventional nursing to naturopathic practice, real patient stories involving lymphedema and cancer recovery, and her perspective on addressing emotional trauma as part of the healing process.

  20. 141: When the Doctor Runs Out of Options, You Find New Ones. Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer | Melissa Rausch

    Season 2026, Episode 141

    Show notes

Melissa Rausch of Simi Valley, California, was diagnosed in 2019 with triple-positive breast cancer, one of the more aggressive types, and did everything her doctors told her to do.

She endured 16 weeks of hard chemo, hospitalizations, a lumpectomy with unclear margins, and radiation with severe side effects. Then in November 2020, the cancer spread to her bones and her oncologist said the word she wasn't ready to accept: terminal.

Instead of giving up, Melissa said "with all due respect" and started knocking on other doors. She dove into books, found holistic practitioners, overhauled her diet overnight, and eventually connected with Chris Wark's Square One program and the Healing Strong community.

Through a dual path of faith, integrative care, and persistent self-advocacy, including fighting her own oncologist to return to a treatment that had actually worked. Melissa is now in complete remission. She co-founded and now leads the HealingStrong group in Simi Valley, praying for each member by name daily.

HealingStrong's mission is to educate, equip and empower our group leaders and group participants through their journey with cancer or other chronic illnesses, and know there is HOPE. We bring this hope through educational materials, webinars, guest speakers, conferences, community small group support and more.
