  1. 63. Bullshit to Balance: Why Being Calm All the Time Is Complete BS

    Show notes

I'm calling BULLSHIT on balance. 💩

The idea that if you meditate enough, do enough yoga, go to enough therapy, heal enough trauma and regulate your nervous system enough, you'll eventually reach this magical place where nothing bothers you?

    Absolute bullshit.

I've completed seven 10-day silent meditation retreats, taught yoga for over a decade and spent years studying the nervous system.

And guess what? I STILL have shitty days.

Because life is in session, and nobody goes unscathed.

In this solo episode, I'm challenging the wellness industry's obsession with balance, constant calm and optimisation.

    We're talking about:

    • Why nervous system regulation doesn't mean never becoming dysregulated.
    • Why uncomfortable emotions aren't evidence that you're doing something wrong.
    • How chasing balance can become another form of self-judgment.
    • Why self-trust matters more than trying to control everything.

The goal isn't to never get knocked off balance. It's to trust yourself enough to find your footing again.

You don't need to turn every difficult day into a personal development project.

You don't need to be perfectly regulated.

And you certainly don't need to have your shit together all the time.

You don't need a perfectly balanced life to have a beautiful one.

  2. 62. Is Self-Sabotage Actually Self-Protection with Psychologist Dr. Rachel Goldman

    Episode 62

    Show notes

What if the very thing you call self-sabotage is actually your mind trying to protect you?

In this episode of the Inner Self-Confidence Podcast, I'm joined by Dr. Rachel Goldman, a nationally recognised clinical psychologist, author, speaker, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

Dr. Rachel is an expert in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), stress management, burnout, and behaviour change. She's shared the stage with Oprah, appeared on The Mel Robbins Podcast, and been featured in TIME, CNN, The New York Times, Women's Health, and many more.

She's also the author of When Life Happens: The Mindset Shift You Need to Manage Stress, Build Confidence, and Break Free.

Together, we explore why so many capable, successful women feel stuck, overwhelmed, and disconnected from themselves, even when everything looks perfectly fine on the outside.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • Why feeling stuck isn't always about a lack of motivation
    • Whether self-sabotage is actually a form of self-protection
    • Why knowing what to do and actually doing it are two very different things
    • The difference between healthy mindset shifts and toxic positivity
    • Why women struggle to put themselves first and how this contributes to burnout
    • How to rebuild self-confidence after setbacks and major life changes
    • Why disappointing others can feel more frightening than disappointing ourselves
    • How to start moving forward BEFORE you feel ready

Because life isn't always going to go according to plan. People will disappoint us. Things will fall apart. And sometimes the life we worked so hard to build no longer feels like the life we want.

The goal isn't to control everything that happens to us. It's to build the confidence to navigate whatever life throws our way.

If you've been waiting for the perfect moment, more clarity, or someone else's permission to make a change, this conversation is for you.

  3. 61. What Do Cornell 7, Sydney Sweeney & Lindsay Clancy Have in Common? With Psychologist Ilia Poznak

    Episode 61

    Show notes

    They've become symbols.

Symbols we use to debate gender, morality, mental health, victimhood, accountability and who we believe is good or evil.

In Episode 61 of the Inner Self-Confidence Podcast, I'm joined by registered psychologist and certified executive coach Ilia Poznak for a conversation about something I think we're rapidly losing: our ability to sit in the grey

I recently connected with Ilia on Instagram after being drawn to his willingness to talk about subjects many people shy away from — questioning popular narratives, exploring uncomfortable perspectives and bringing nuance back into conversations that increasingly demand we pick a side.

We get into moral typecasting and why our brains want heroes and villains. We talk about virtue signalling, social media, group identity, moral judgement and what happens when a human being becomes a symbol for an entire social issue.

We also explore the growing divide between men and women.

Are women being taught that men are dangerous while men are being taught that women hate or manipulate them?

Can we believe and support victims without turning allegations into internet entertainment?

Can we talk about mental illness without removing accountability?

Can we condemn someone's behaviour without completely dehumanising them?

Can empathy and accountability exist at the same time?

And perhaps the question underneath this entire conversation:

Are we becoming so determined to prove that we're on the “right” side that we're losing our ability to see each other's humanity?

This conversation isn't about telling you what to think.

It's about asking whether we're still willing to think for ourselves.

    🎙️ IN THIS EPISODE:

    • Moral typecasting and our need for heroes and villains
    • The psychology of “good vs. evil”
    • Virtue signalling and online morality
    • Why nuance feels increasingly difficult online
    • Social media, algorithms and groupthink
    • The growing divide between men and women
    • Empathy vs. accountability
    • Why understanding behaviour isn't the same as excusing it
    • What happens when people become symbols instead of human beings
    • How to stay curious when something challenges what you believe

  4. 60.Break The Cycle Before It Breaks You, with Author & Coach, Priscilla Gutiérrez

    Episode 60

    Show notes

I sit down with Priscilla — author, activist, coach and self-described cycle breaker — for a raw and honest conversation about childhood trauma, domestic violence, the systems surrounding survivors, and what it actually takes to break a cycle before it breaks you.

Priscilla survived childhood sexual abuse by her grandfather and later found herself in a domestic violence relationship. She went on to study law, but ultimately chose not to practise after questioning the very systems that are supposed to protect vulnerable people.

We also have an important conversation about modern psychology and therapy. Priscilla shares her own experiences of seeking professional support and, at times, feeling unsupported and further traumatised by the people and systems she turned to for help.

We talk about survival mode, shame, self-trust, finding your voice, recognising the less obvious signs of abuse, and the difference between surviving your past and actually creating a life beyond it.

And perhaps most importantly: Are generational cycles broken in one huge courageous moment — or through thousands of tiny choices we make differently every single day?

Because being a cycle breaker isn't about pretending the past didn't happen.

It's deciding: it ends with me.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • Childhood sexual trauma and its impact into adulthood
    • Domestic violence and the red flags we often don't recognise
    • Why survivors can blame themselves
    • When therapy causes more harm instead of healing
    • The limitations of our legal and mental-health systems
    • Rebuilding self-trust after trauma
    • Finding your voice after years of silence
    • Breaking generational patterns
    • Turning pain into purpose

Do you constantly feel like there are never enough hours in the day?

What if you don’t actually have a time problem… but an alignment problem?

In this episode, I’m sharing my Time Mastery framework and challenging the idea that becoming more productive is the answer.

We all get the same 1,440 minutes each day—but where are yours actually going? And more importantly, are they going toward the life you say you want?

We’ll explore your values, vision and time, why everything feels urgent when you’re unclear on what matters, how distractions and context-switching steal your attention, and the Zones Framework for protecting both focused work and genuine rest. Time Mastery Time Mastery

Because Time Mastery isn’t about doing more. It’s about aligning your time with what you say matters most—and protecting that alignment fiercely. Time Mastery

What happens when you spend thousands of dollars to live in the middle of a desert, covered in dust, with no proper shower… and somehow call it one of the most magical experiences of your life? 😂

    Welcome to Burning Man!

I met my husband Kenny there in 2015, experienced some of the wildest synchronicities of my life, and discovered a community unlike anything I've ever experienced.

But Burning Man is SO much more than a "festival."

In this episode, I'm sharing what Burning Man actually is, why I keep going back, the 10 Principles that make it so extraordinary, and six life lessons I've brought home from the desert.

🔥 The 10 Principles of Burning Man:

    • Radical Inclusion
    • Gifting
    • Decommodification
    • Radical Self-Reliance

    Episode 56

    Show notes

At 18 years old, Charlie Goldsmith discovered he had an unusual ability to help facilitate healing.

Now, after 27 years of working with people, his work has also become the subject of scientific investigation — including research connected with universities and medical institutions.

In this fascinating conversation, Charlie and I explore:

✨ What he actually does — without relying on the words “energy healing”
✨ Why he welcomed scientific scrutiny
✨ How powerful the "Placebo" is
✨ The impact of stress and emotions on the body
✨ What 27 years of working with people has taught him about the human body's capacity to heal

Whether you're a believer, a sceptic or simply curious, this conversation is an invitation to stay open to what we don't yet understand.

    Someone doesn’t reply… they’re mad at me.
Your partner seems quiet… what did I do?
Your boss says, “Can we chat?”… I’m getting fired.

    Sound familiar?

In this I’m talking about how quickly our nervous system can turn uncertainty into an entire story — and why your first emotional response isn’t always reality.

    Sometimes, it’s survival.

I share a recent experience of being blocked by a friend and how I learned to separate what actually happened from the story my nervous system created.

We talk boundaries, rejection, over-apologising, emotional maturity and one powerful question:

    What else could be true?z

    Show notes

At 36, with three young children (under the age of 3), Cassie Miller was diagnosed with incurable neuroendocrine cancer.

Today, she says she feels healthier, happier and more alive than she did before her diagnosis.

Now a speaker and advocate, Cassie is on a mission to help people get off the hamster wheel of chronic stress and burnout and move from autopilot to truly ALIVE—before it takes a life-changing diagnosis to wake them up.

In this powerful conversation, Cassie shares how she embraces what she calls medicine AND magic.

Medicine is the doctors, treatment and science supporting her body.

Magic is the harder-to-explain stuff: spirituality, intuition, awe, connection to the divine and trusting in something bigger than ourselves.

She talks about the book: The Awakened Brain by Dr. Lisa Miller that opened her eyes to the Neuroscience of Spirituality.

Can we heal even when we can't be cured?

This isn't about choosing spirituality over modern medicine. It's about what becomes possible when we make room for both.

  11. *BONUS*Wrong Man, Right Country - Personal Essay Bonus

    Show notes

What if your intuition was right… just not in the way you thought?

I recently submitted a personal essay, The Wrong Man, The Right Country, to an anthology exploring intuition, inevitability and the strange clarity of knowing — and I wanted to share the audio version with you here.

At 20 years old, after spending just 10 days in Australia, I knew with absolute certainty: I’m going to live here one day.

What I didn't know was the heartbreak, loss, wrong turns and one very wrong man it would take to eventually get me here.

This is a story about learning that intuition isn't always a map. Sometimes, it's a compass.

Sometimes you can be completely wrong about the destination… and still be heading in exactly the right direction.

  12. 53. Speed Up by Slowing Down: Why Rushing Is Actually Slowing You Down

    Episode 53

    Show notes

What if the reason you’re not moving forward isn’t that you need to work harder — but because you need to slow down?

We live in a world that glorifies urgency, productivity and doing it all. But constantly rushing can leave us reactive, overwhelmed and disconnected from what we actually want.

In this short episode, I share why slowing down has helped me accomplish more, not less — from the way I walk, drive and do everyday chores to the way I communicate, make decisions and build my business.

We’ll explore why slowing down isn’t about doing less — it’s about becoming more present and intentional with what you’re already doing.

Plus, I’ll give you a simple (and intentionally uncomfortable) challenge to try this week. And if you want to build real inner confidence, this is exactly what we practise inside Confident by Christmas: 90 Days to Inner Self-Confidence — building capacity first, then clarity, then consistency.

Because sometimes the fastest way forward is to stop rushing your way there.

  13. 52. You've Survived... But Have You Healed? Getting Through vs. Regulating Through

    Episode 52

    Show notes

    We've all said it...

    "I got through it."

    The divorce.
    The cancer diagnosis.
    The financial stress.
    The loss.
    The childhood trauma.

But what if getting through isn't the same as healing?

In this episode, I share one of the biggest mindset shifts that's transformed my life: the difference between surviving a difficult experience and regulating through it.

I open up about how I consciously regulated through my husband's stroke, discovering at 38 that the man who raised me wasn't my biological father, and why slowing down, asking for help, resting, and staying connected changed everything.

If you've ever wondered why you're still anxious, exhausted, reactive, or feel like your body never "moved on" from something that happened years ago, this episode is for you.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

✨ The difference between getting through and regulating through

✨ Why your nervous system needs to know the danger has passed

✨ How chronic stress keeps your body stuck in survival mode

✨ Practical ways to regulate through life's hardest moments without abandoning yourself

Confidence isn't built by surviving hard things.

It's built by teaching your nervous system...

"We're safe now and I can handle anything."

Doors are now open for my brand-new group coaching program:

You genuinely want to start the business, go to the gym, launch the podcast, apply for the promotion or finally speak up in your relationship…

But every time you try to move forward, something inside you hits the brakes. 🛑

In this episode, we explore how procrastination can be connected to the freeze response—and why forcing yourself to “just be more disciplined” can sometimes keep you even more stuck.

I also share how I returned to the gym after avoiding it for seven years—not by pushing harder or creating an overwhelming plan, but by making one small promise to myself and keeping it for an entire year. 💪

🎧 IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL DISCOVER:

🧠 Why you can feel anxious, restless and overwhelmed—but still do nothing
🧊 How childhood experiences can teach your nervous system that action, mistakes or speaking up aren’t safe
🗣️ Why difficult conversations can trigger a freeze response
🌱 How to begin moving out of freeze gently
🔥 Why confidence is built through gentle, consistent and uncomfortable movements—not massive action

    You’re not lazy.

Your nervous system may have simply learned that stillness was safer than movement. 🤍

You don’t need to bully yourself into changing. You need to help your body feel safe enough to begin.

  15. 50. The BIGGEST Misconception About Nervous System Regulation

    Episode 50

    Show notes

What if regulating your nervous system isn’t about feeling safe and calm all the time?

In this episode I’m breaking down one of the biggest misconceptions I see in the nervous system and healing space:

Safety and capacity are not the same thing.

If every time anxiety, discomfort or conflict shows up you leave, avoid, distract yourself or shut down, your nervous system may never get the opportunity to learn that discomfort doesn’t always mean danger.

Real nervous system regulation isn’t about eliminating discomfort. It’s about gently building your capacity to stay present with it — when you are actually safe.

In this episode, we talk about:

✨ Why feeling “safe” isn’t always the same as being regulated
✨ How avoidance can accidentally reinforce fight, flight, freeze and fawn
✨ Why difficult conversations can feel dangerous even when they aren’t
✨ How to expand your nervous system capacity through tiny, manageable steps
✨ Why your ability to tolerate discomfort can change your confidence, relationships, career and life

Because your goal isn’t to never feel uncomfortable.

Your goal is to build the capacity to stay present through discomfort without abandoning yourself.

  16. 49. Family Estrangement: When Walking Away Is the Healthiest Choice, with Author Cari Fund

    Show notes

Family estrangement is one of the most misunderstood experiences someone can go through. Society tells us that family is everything, that forgiveness is always the answer, and that blood should come before boundaries. But what happens when the relationship itself is causing harm?

In this deeply honest conversation, I sit down with author and cycle breaker Cari Fund to talk about the reality of family estrangement, grieving people who are still alive, breaking generational patterns, and learning to choose yourself without carrying a lifetime of guilt.

We also explore my own experience of family estrangement from a different perspective. I was separated from my biological father by a family secret that wasn't mine to choose. Together, we unpack how silence, secrets and unresolved pain shape generations—and what healing can look like on the other side.

    In this episode we discuss:

    • Why family estrangement is often misunderstood
    • The grief of losing someone who's still alive
    • Breaking cycles of guilt, shame and people-pleasing
    • Whether reconciliation is always the goal
    • Navigating Mother's Day, birthdays and family milestones
    • Why "blood is thicker than water" isn't always helpful
    • When walking away becomes an act of self-respect

Whether you're estranged from a parent, sibling or another family member—or you're supporting someone who is—this conversation is a reminder that choosing peace isn't selfish.

    • The audiobook that's constantly in your ears.

In this solo episode, I share one of my favourite exercises that I learned from neuroscientist Dr. Tara Swart—the People Tree Exercise.

    Here's how it works:

Write down the five people you spend the most time with in life right now. Not who you are "closest" to

Then, honestly list five qualities that come to mind for each one.

Not the qualities you wish they had...

The qualities you experience most often.

    Supportive.
    Anxious.
    Optimistic.
    Negative.
    Curious.
    Judgmental.
    Calm.
    Reactive.

This exercise isn't about blaming the people around you.

It's about becoming aware of the environment you're immersed in every single day—and asking yourself whether it's helping you become the person you want to be.

Sometimes the biggest shift in your confidence, mindset and nervous system isn't changing yourself.

It's changing what—and who—you repeatedly expose yourself to.

    In this episode you'll learn:

    • How to do the People Tree Exercise
    • Why your environment shapes your thoughts and behaviours
    • The surprising influences you may be overlooking
    • How to audit your emotional environment
    • Practical questions to help you create healthier relationships

  18. 47. How She Stayed Standing When Life Kept Knocking Her Down, with Somatic Coach, Sinéad Quinn

    Show notes

What do you do when life just won't let up?

In this powerful conversation, I sit down with breathwork facilitator, somatic coach, and Spinal Energetics practitioner Sinéad Quinn to explore what resilience really looks like—not the kind that pushes through at all costs, but the kind that gently brings you back to yourself.

Sinéad's story is one of profound adversity. She shares her experience of becoming a mother to a son with Down syndrome, welcoming a second baby almost 12 weeks prematurely, navigating her husband's vaccine injury, losing her mother, and facing seasons of uncertainty that would leave many feeling completely overwhelmed.

Yet through it all, she didn't find healing in a magic pill or a quick fix.

She found it in the simple things.

    Her breath.

    Gentle movement.

    Meditation.

Learning to regulate her nervous system instead of constantly overriding it.

Healing isn't always glamorous. It isn't always exciting. More often than not, it's simple. Repetitive. Sometimes even a little boring.

    But simple doesn't mean easy.

    And simple doesn't mean it isn't life-changing.

If you've been searching for the next breakthrough, this episode is a beautiful reminder that the most powerful tools are often the ones we already carry with us.

    • Why breath is one of the most powerful tools we have for nervous system regulation.
    • How yoga, meditation and gentle movement supported Sinéad through grief and adversity.
    • What somatic healing really is—and why the body matters in healing.
    • The difference between surviving and truly feeling safe again.
    • Why healing isn't about doing more—it's about coming back to yourself.

Whether you're navigating grief, chronic stress, trauma, burnout, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, this conversation offers hope, practical tools, and a gentle reminder that healing doesn't have to be complicated to be effective.

  19. 46. Rewiring Your Subconscious: Why You Still Feel Stuck, with Maddison Everist, Hypnotherapist

    Season 2, Episode 46

    Show notes

Ever wondered why you keep repeating the same patterns—even when you know exactly what you should do?

In this episode, I'm joined by hypnotherapist and RTT Practitioner Madison to explore the incredible power of the subconscious mind and why confidence isn't just built through positive thinking.

We dive into why so many high-achieving women still struggle with self-doubt, people-pleasing, overthinking and feeling "not enough," despite years of personal development.

    We discuss:
✨ What hypnotherapy actually is (and what it isn't!)
✨ Why willpower alone isn't enough to create lasting change.
✨ How childhood experiences shape our confidence and self-worth.
✨ Why you can be incredibly self-aware yet still feel stuck.
✨ The subconscious beliefs keeping you small.
✨ How to begin rewiring your mind for greater confidence, peace and freedom.

If you've ever thought, "Why do I keep doing this?" or "Why can't I just move on?"—this conversation will help you understand what's really happening beneath the surface.

  20. 45. Why I'm Childfree by Choice

    Season 1, Episode 45

    Show notes

Today marks a special milestone—this podcast turns one year old. ❤️

In many ways, this podcast has become one of my babies. My book, my business, this community... they are all things I've intentionally created and deeply nurtured. So it felt fitting to finally record an episode I've wanted to make for a very long time.

    Why I'm childfree by choice.

This isn't an episode about convincing anyone not to have children, nor is it about saying one path is better than another.

    It's about honesty.

It's about having the courage to listen to your own inner voice, even when it tells you something different from what society expects.

    In this episode, I share:
✨ Why I've never wanted children—and why that answer has never changed.
✨ The pressure women face to follow the "life script."
✨ Why I believe inner self-confidence is about trusting yourself more than public opinion.
✨ The history of choice, motherhood and why having genuine freedom is a relatively recent privilege for many women.
✨ Why your life doesn't have to make sense to anyone else to be deeply meaningful.

Whether you're a parent, childfree by choice, undecided, navigating infertility, or simply curious, I hope this conversation reminds you that there isn't one "right" way to live a fulfilling life.

    Because your life is yours.

    Not your family's.
    Not society's.
    Not anyone else's.

Thank you for being here and for supporting this podcast over the past year. Here's to many more honest conversations.
