Melinda Nelson - Stage 4 Adrenal Cancer Thriver

Before her diagnosis, Melinda Nelson was a plant-based health coach, avid organic juicer, triathlete, and yogi. At 32, she was diagnosed with adrenocortical carcinoma, a rare, one-in-a-million cancer with only one FDA-approved treatment. She found motivation and inspiration in the documentary Heal, which she played on repeat as she fell asleep. After surgery to remove a cortisol-secreting, 24-centimeter adrenal tumor, she started treatment but experienced recurrence in her spine, hips, shoulder, lungs, and liver, leading her to pursue multiple treatments and procedures with a dedicated team of specialists. Her tumors have remained stable and inactive since November 2022, and she continues to support her well-being through complementary practices such as acupuncture, hypnotherapy, and sound baths. In 2024, Melinda became a founding member and vice president of Adrenal Cure Collective, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing adrenal cancer research, and she now co-hosts Talk Cancer to Me, a podcast exploring the realities of life with cancer beyond oncology appointments.

Judith Lydon, Stage 4 Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma Thriver

Judi was first diagnosed with Stage 1 Endometrial Carcinoma in 2011 after undergoing a hysterectomy. Because no additional treatment was recommended at that time, she was monitored through observation and was declared cancer free five years later.

One year later, in 2017, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Low Grade Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma (LGESS), which had not been identified during her original hysterectomy. By that time, the cancer had seeded throughout her abdomen.

Since 2017, Judi has been actively treated with various systemic hormone therapies and the disease has remained stable.

The Radical Remission factors helped her feel less alone and more grounded throughout her cancer journey. As challenges arose, she incorporated all the healing factors into her daily life at various times, using them to navigate the ups and downs with greater resilience, hope, and intention. These factors continue to provide a meaningful framework for daily living and aging gracefully.

Ryan Sternagel on behalf of son Ryder - Stage 4 Neuroblastoma Thriver

In May of 2014 Ryder was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer of the nervous system, eleven days before his first birthday. Ryan and his wife Teddy took an integrative approach leaving nothing on the table in order to save Ryder’s life. They rid their lives of all possible causes, and even built a new non-toxic home in the middle of the woods. Today Ryder is 12 years old and thriving.

Jim Brown is 58 years old and a 10+ year Stage 4 Lung Cancer Survivor from Olympia, Washington. Jim was a career firefighter and his cancer was determined to be service connected.

Robin Daly, Yes to Life Founder

In 2005, Robin Daly founded the charity Yes to Life in response to the immense difficulties he faced in finding authentic, appropriate and available complementary and lifestyle treatments for his daughter, Bryony, when she was facing cancer for the third time. This later prompted him to found Yes to Life to support others in similar situations. It is the first charity offering direct support to anyone with cancer in the UK looking for ways to help with their own recovery.

Today, Yes to Life offers a Helpline Service, financial assistance, conferences to raise public awareness, a radio show called The Yes to Life Show, the book called The Cancer Revolution, and many avenues of peer support.

Catherine Todd, Stage 4 Breast Cancer Thriver

Episode 134

Show notes

Catherine was first diagnosed with HR positive, HER2 Negative breast cancer in 1999. In November of 2020, she received her fourth cancer diagnosis, and was told it was incurable, Stage IV, metastatic breast cancer. Her oncologist told her she needed a miracle. Catherine's immediate thought was, "Is that all? I know where to get one of those. I'll just ask my Heavenly Father for one."

She began to pray to her Maker to teach her what was best for her and to direct her in the way she should go in order to heal her body. God began to answer her prayer. Catherine attributes her resiliency to her faith in God and in His guidance and miraculous healing power. Other factors that played a critical role in Catherine's healing include a strong support system of family and friends and acupuncture to stimulate her own body's healing potential.

Today she is alive and well and has been celebrating NED since 2022.

Karen Taylor, Stage 4 Endometrial Cancer Thriver

In 2016 at age 55, Karen was fit, but stressed with a very demanding job, after going through a difficult divorce a few years earlier. She started to experience heavy bleeding and after a few months of investigation and finally a biopsy, she was (shockingly) told she had stage 3C Clear Cell endometrial cancer. Clear Cell is a very rare and extremely aggressive cancer, so she felt both hopeless and helpless.

Karen knew treatment was limited as Clear Cell doesn’t really respond to chemotherapy, so she decided to try everything she could. She had extensive pelvic surgery, some chemotherapy, 42 rounds of radiotherapy and brachytherapy but despite it all, 6 months later, the disease had spread to her lungs. It was then she decided that she would be among the 6% who survived longer than 5 years with this diagnosis and began to do her research. That included reading Radical Remission, which gave her so much HOPE. Listen to this episode to learn how Karen has been NED since 2022.

Guillermo Llinas, Stage 3 Prostate Cancer Thriver - Alternative Approach

Guillermo received a stage 3 prostate cancer diagnosis in March 2008. He intuitively decided to take control of the process and not undergo any conventional treatment. Sophie Umhofer, Stage 4 Colon cancer Thriver

Sophie Umhofer was diagnosed in 2018 with stage 4 bowel cancer and an aggressive BRAF mutation, a prognosis that typically carries less than a year to live. After chemotherapy failed, she began immunotherapy.

Through the process, Sophie took control of her health by transforming her diet, deepening her spiritual connection, embracing support, and cultivating positivity.

She has made a remarkable recovery, becoming cancer-free in 2021 and off treatment ever since.
