  1. 200: 200 Episodes, Four Years, and Everything You’ve Wanted to Ask Me

    Episode 200

    Show notes

We made it to 200 episodes, and this week also marks four years of the podcast! To celebrate, I’m doing something a little different: an open Q&A where I answer anything and everything about the podcast, my business, and my real life, including whether I actually practice what I teach. Then we finish with a rapid fire round and a giveaway, because a milestone this big deserves a party.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN:

    • Why I waited years to start a podcast, and how consistency got me to 200 episodes
    • The humbling truth about how my own family eats, and why I still keep Cheez-Its in the house
    • Whether I actually do everything I teach my clients
    • The health trend I wish would disappear for good
    • How I changed my mind about GLP-1s, and the client story that shows why they’re not the easy way out
    • Why I went back to work as an RN, and how it fills a gap for my clients
    • What I’m still working through, even as a coach
    • The one truth about changing your life that nobody wants to hear
    • What I’m no longer willing to hide to make other people comfortable
    • What’s next for the podcast, plus a rapid fire round of coffee vs. matcha, beach vs. mountains, and more

  2. 199: GLP-1s After 40 - Are You Getting Healthier or Just Smaller?

    Episode 199

    Show notes

You’ve lost 25 pounds on a GLP-1 and everyone is congratulating you. But you’re tired, your hair is thinning, your patience is gone by dinner, and you’re not sure the body in the mirror is the one you were hoping for. In this episode, I’m sharing both sides of the GLP-1 conversation as an RN who helps women get started on these medications and coaches women on them every week, and why the real question isn’t how much weight you’ve lost. It’s what you’re losing, and whether you’re keeping the muscle that will carry you for decades.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU’LL LEARN:

    • Why the scale tells an incomplete story, and why losing fat while keeping your muscle is the real goal
    • Why food noise doesn’t go away on a GLP-1, it just gets quiet, and what happens when you lower your dose
    • What GLP-1 medications actually do in your body beyond turning down your hunger
    • How semaglutide, tirzepatide, and the newest medication in trials differ
    • Why two women on the same medication and the same dose can have completely different experiences
    • Whether you can build muscle on a GLP-1, and why the answer depends on where you’re starting
    • What to do when you’re not hungry enough to reach your protein or calorie minimum
    • Why HRT and GLP-1s do two very different jobs, and why I recommend building your foundation first
    • The three things I want you focused on if you’re on a GLP-1 right now

    TIMESTAMPS:

00:03 — Both sides of the GLP-1 conversation
02:26 — Why food noise gets quiet but doesn’t go away
04:12 — Why I coach instead of handing you a plan
06:27 — What GLP-1s actually do in your body
08:05 — Semaglutide, tirzepatide, and what’s coming next
10:20 — Why two women on the same dose feel so different
    12:37 — Setting the foundation before adding a GLP-1
14:57 — Measuring body composition, not just the scale
16:39 — Can you build muscle on a GLP-1? Sarah and Megan
19:26 — What to do when you’re not hungry
21:08 — Midlife, recovery, and where HRT fits in
23:30 — HRT vs. GLP-1s: two different jobs
    24:32 — Three things to focus on if you’re on a GLP-1

  3. 198: What Happened Before the Weight Gain?

    Episode 198

    Show notes

The scale going up is usually what gets your attention, but it's rarely where the story starts. For most women, there was a quieter thought months earlier: I just don't feel like myself anymore. In this episode, I'm walking you through what tends to happen six to twelve months before the weight shows up, why your body holds on when it doesn't feel like it has enough, and why fighting harder with less food and more workouts keeps you stuck. Plus, we're celebrating almost 200 episodes and four years of the podcast, and the official move to the Well Nourished Podcast!

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why weight gain is usually the last sign to show up, not the first
    • The question I ask every woman on a consultation, and why her answer matters so much
    • How my body responded after coming off an aggressive bodybuilding cut
    • Common triggers that come before weight gain, from food poisoning and illness to empty nest and job changes
    • Why coming home from vacation can knock you off track for months
    • How small stressors stack up until your body starts conserving energy
    • Where GLP-1s fit, and why they work best on a strong foundation
    • Why nourishment is always the first step to helping your body feel safe

  4. 197: How to Stop Overcomplicating Weight Loss

    Episode 197

    Show notes

It's 5pm on a Thursday, everyone is hungry, and you're standing in the kitchen trying to figure out what's for dinner with almost nothing left in the tank. So it's frozen pizza, DoorDash, or the leftover cheeseburger from the kids' bag on the way home from practice. In this episode, I'm sharing the simple shift I teach my clients that makes healthy eating feel so much easier: making your food decisions ahead of time, and then just following through.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why deciding what to eat at mealtime means deciding from your most tired, overwhelmed, lowest-capacity self
    • How the flight, fawn, and freeze responses show up in your kitchen at dinnertime
    • Why "I can't stay consistent" is usually a decision problem, not a willpower problem
    • How I plan, shop, and prep for my week, including my midweek mini prep for lunches
    • How to change your plans without feeling like you failed, by asking yourself if you love your reason
    • The hidden energy cost of negotiating with yourself about food all day long
    • Why more recipes, more options, and more information usually lead to less action
    • How following through on your own decisions builds real self trust

    TIMESTAMPS:

00:00 — Welcome and why so many women feel overwhelmed
02:14 — Deciding once versus deciding at mealtime
05:08 — Saturday morning you versus 5pm Thursday you

  5. 196: How Do I Know If I’m Eating Too Little or Too Much?

    Episode 196

    Show notes

You're eating what feels like it should be enough, maybe even too little, and nothing is changing. Then you hear that midlife women need to eat more, so you try it, the scale creeps up, and you're right back to wondering what the right answer even is. In this episode, I'm showing you why "how much should I eat?" is actually the second question, and why the first one, what am I eating, is what moves the needle for your energy, cravings, digestion, and the scale.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why "am I eating too much or too little?" is the wrong place to start, and the question that should come first
    • How a day of protein coffee, shakes, and quick snacks can hit your protein goal and still leave you under-nourished
    • Why you're wandering back into the pantry at 8pm, and what your cravings are really telling you
    • How hunger, cravings, energy, digestion, and sleep are your body's way of communicating with you
    • Why processed foods make it so hard to tell nourishment from reward (and why eating them is never a moral failure)
    • How inflammation shows up on the scale, and why the number you see isn't only body fat
    • Where tracking fits in, and why food quality always comes before calories and macros

    TIMESTAMPS:

  6. 195: The Two Reasons You Can't Get the Workout Done

    Show notes

You keep seeing posts telling you to lift weights in midlife, and you want to, but you're tired, run down, and your body keeps finding new ways to feel terrible. So how do you know whether your body needs support or your brain is trying to avoid something uncomfortable? In this episode, I'm breaking down the two very different reasons you might not be getting to your workouts, why they feel identical from the inside, and how to tell which one you're dealing with so you can stop guessing and start doing what actually helps.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why an energy problem and a resistance problem feel the same in the moment, and why they need completely different solutions
    • Why workouts sit above sleep, nourishment, and safety in the hierarchy of needs, and what has to be filled in first
    • The question I ask clients about how they feel two to four hours after a workout, and what it tells me about whether it's time for labs
    • Why an iron supplement isn't always the whole story, and what to look at when your body isn't absorbing what it needs
    • What a loving push looks like, and why it's never mean girl energy
    • Why motivation is not a data point, and which data points you can actually trust
    • Why the answer is never zero workouts or six workouts a week, and why recovery is part of how progress happens

    TIMESTAMPS:

18:42 — Why you can't wait for motivation to show up
19:51 — Is your body asking you to stop or is your brain avoiding discomfort?

How many articles have you read, supplements have you tried, and protocols have you been handed, only to still feel stuck in your body? In this episode, I'm breaking down why knowing what to do has never actually been your problem, and why the real gap is between receiving information and being held inside a process built to create your results.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    ● Why you already know more about health than you ever have, and why that hasn't fixed anything ● The real difference between being handed a plan and being held inside a results container ● The hidden cognitive and emotional load of managing your own health on top of everything else you carry ● Why self love isn't the reward for changing your body, it's the starting position you take action from ● The one question to ask yourself before choosing your next action ● What it actually means to be held in a container built for results instead of thrown back into your life with a list

  8. Replay: The Midlife Weight Loss Masterclass

    Show notes

You're eating healthy. You're getting in your protein. You're exercising. You might even be on a GLP-1. And your body still isn't responding the way you think it should. In this episode, I'm sharing the full replay of my Midlife Weight Loss Masterclass, where I walk you through exactly why "eating less and trying harder" stops working in midlife, what your body actually needs instead, and how to finally get a body that responds again, with or without a GLP-1.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    ● Why eating healthy and eating less don't automatically mean your body is nourished
    ● The real reason your 3pm cravings and nighttime snacking show up, and why it's not a discipline problem
    ● How your midlife hormonal environment changes what your body needs from you
    ● The three things an under-resourced body does: conserves, seeks, and protects
    ● Why "eating more" backfires when it isn't purposeful, and what predictable nourishment actually looks like
    ● Where a GLP-1 fits into this picture, using my gas stove analogy
    ● The order your body actually heals in, and why the scale is never the first thing to move
    ● What it means to stop performing wellness and start being well

  9. 192: Is It Your Gut? Why You're Bloated, Tired, and Not Losing Weight

    Episode 192

    Show notes

You're eating the healthy meal. Protein, rice, vegetables, healthy fats, all the things. And an hour later you're unbuttoning your pants because your belly has expanded like you're four months along. In this episode, I'm breaking down why your bloating, your fatigue, and your stalled scale aren't three separate problems. They're one problem, and it starts with digestion.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why a healthy body should be able to tolerate the occasional pizza night without days of discomfort, and what it means if yours can't
    • The simple push test that tells you whether what you're feeling is bloating or body fat
    • Why digestion takes real energy, and how a struggling gut leaves you with less capacity to be consistent with anything else
    • Why hormones are downstream of digestion, and why fixing the gut has to come before we ever touch hormones
    • What actually happens to your hormones when your stool sits too long, and why that's one of the most common reasons for hormonal imbalance
    • Why GLP-1 users need to prioritize digestion even more, and how doing so improves the results of the medication itself
    • The solve, nourish, sustain order I use with every client, and why skipping straight to "just be consistent" sets you up to fail

  10. 191: Are Your Hormones Why You Can't Lose Weight?

    Episode 191

    Show notes

You've said it yourself, probably more than once: "I think it's my hormones." Your period is wonky, your cravings feel uncontrollable, the scale won't budge no matter what you do, and you lose your shit every month before your period starts. In this episode, I'm breaking down why that phrase has become a crutch, and what your hormones are actually trying to tell you when they create these symptoms.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why "it's my hormones" keeps you stuck in confusion instead of getting you real answers
    • What your hormones are actually responding to (hint: it's not bad luck, and it's not just being 42)
    • The real reason skipping breakfast or undereating earlier in the day backfires on your metabolism
    • How cortisol gets aimed at the wrong problem when your body thinks food is scarce
    • Why your cravings, wonky periods, and restless sleep are all the same problem showing up five different ways
    • The simple daily eating structure that tells your body it's safe to burn fat instead of store it
    • What "optimal protein" actually means, and why more isn't automatically better
    • Why the healthy-looking protein bars and pre-made shakes in your pantry might not be helping you

    TIMESTAMPS:

00:01 — Welcome back and a back-to-school life update 02:28 — Your hormones don't exist separately from how you're nourishing your body 04:51 — Why our medical system isn't built to teach nutrition or hold you accountable 06:07 — The vicious cycle of confusion, outsourcing, and superficial results 08:30 — "Your hormones aren't the problem, they're responding to being undernourished" 10:51 — What your hormones are actually responding to (it's not just calories) 13:08 — How cortisol solves the wrong problem when food feels scarce 15:12 — How this shows up as cravings, wonky periods, PMS, and restless sleep 17:35 — Why simply thinking about your food ahead of time changes everything 18:52 — What "optimal protein" really means and why blood sugar balance matters more than the number 19:44 — Redefining your ideal body weight (it's not a number from your past) 22:05 — Why nourishment, not medication or supplements, is the real path to safety

  11. 190: A GLP Is Neither Mandatory Nor Magic

    Episode 190

    Show notes

"I just need a GLP." Or on the flip side: "I'm on a GLP, so I don't need to learn how to eat." Both of those beliefs will keep you stuck and keep getting you the same result over and over again. In this episode, I'm breaking down why a GLP is neither mandatory nor magic, what actually happens inside your body when you use one without the right skills, and the one thing you have to learn whether you're on the medication or not: how to eat for the body you have right now.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why "I think a GLP is my only option" is a red flag thought, and the completely different result that comes from deciding to use one responsibly
    • What actually happens when you start a GLP with the same habits, same stress, and same day-to-day life you had before
    • Why hair loss, hormone crashes, sleepless nights, and muscle loss are not side effects of the medication itself, and what they're really telling you
    • The band-aid vs. tool question every woman on a GLP needs to answer honestly
    • Why the food noise comes back louder than ever when you taper without ever learning the skills
    • How midlife changes the picture: what declining estrogen and inconsistent ovulation mean for your resilience, recovery, and why fueling your body matters more now than ever
    • My gas stove vs. electric stove analogy for understanding what a GLP actually does (and doesn't do)
    • Why the "Wild West" of online GLP prescribing means you have to be responsible for knowing your dose, your provider, and what you're actually taking
    • What changes for the women who do this work: the shift from hoping for the best to living for the best

  12. 189: Why Stress Keeps Weight on Your Body

    Episode 189

    Show notes

You can do everything right on paper — track perfectly, cut the calories, white-knuckle your way through the week — and your body will still hold onto weight if your nervous system doesn't feel safe. In this episode, the final S in the SUCCESS method, we're talking about stress. Because safety gets decided in your body before your brain ever gets a say, and when your nervous system perceives danger, willpower and discipline become nearly impossible. I'm walking you through why this shows up hardest in the evenings, what's really happening when you reach for the Cheez-Its in the car, and the one tool that shifts your nervous system more than any breath work class ever will.

This is the last episode of the 6S method series. If you're just joining, go back through the previous episodes where I cover each of the S's and the whole weight loss resistance series.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why "stress" and "nervous system dysregulation" are the same thing — and why the label matters less than what it's doing to your body
    • How safety gets decided in your body before your brain gets a say, and why that makes willpower feel impossible
    • Why dysregulation shows up hardest in the evenings, when your capacity is lowest
    • The classic dysregulation pattern: undereating all day, then munching your way through the evening on comfort food
    • My definition of stress: too much energy going out, not enough coming in — and why dieting always reads as stressful to the body
    • How you can be in a calorie deficit and still have your body feel safer than before
    • What chronic stress does to your hormones — cortisol, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone — and why that leaves you exhausted and unable to build muscle
    • Why breath work, meditation, and journaling are tools to feel regulation, not long-term fixes on their own
    • Why awareness is the single most effective nervous system practice
    • Why strategic nutrition is still the one thing that helps your body feel safe most consistently
    • How stress is actually the S you have the most control over

    TIMESTAMPS:

    • 00:00 Welcome back — the final S in the SUCCESS method
    • 00:30 Why I use "stress" and "nervous system dysregulation" interchangeably
    • 01:30 How stress connects to your body feeling safe or unsafe
    • 03:41 Why willpower becomes impossible when your nervous system feels unsafe
    • 04:35 Why dysregulation hits hardest in the evenings
    • 05:30 The Cheez-Its-in-the-car pattern, explained
    • 07:00 The classic cycle: undereating by day, munching by night
    • 10:00 My definition of stress: energy in vs. energy out
    • 11:00 Why you can feel better in a nutrient-dense deficit
    • 12:24 What chronic stress does to your hormones and energy
    • 14:52 Breath work, somatics, and meditation: what they're actually for
    • 16:00 Why awareness is the most effective nervous system tool
    • 19:00 Bridging the mind and the body (and why neither works alone)
    • 19:51 Why strategic nutrition is the most consistent path to safety
    • 22:11 The S you have the most control over
    • 23:04 How stress ties every other S together
    • 23:40 Inside Well Nourished and getting on the waitlist

    THE TAKEAWAY:

Every S in the SUCCESS method feeds one thing: your nervous system's perception of safety. Stress isn't the S that takes control over you — it's the one you have the most control over, because it becomes manageable when you give your body what it needs. So much of the stress we carry comes from living out of alignment with who we actually are: saying yes when we mean no, performing wellness instead of being well. When your body feels safe, it stops holding onto body fat. It really is that simple.

GET ON THE WELL NOURISHED WAITLIST:

Everything in this series comes together inside Well Nourished, my six-month body recomposition program. We take all six S's and build them into your actual life — with coaching, personalized plans, and awareness work so your body finally feels safe enough to let go. We stop performing wellness and actually become well.

  13. 188: Sleep is When You Shift Body Fat: The Sleep S of 6S Method

    Episode 188

    Show notes

You can fall asleep fast, exhausted the second your head hits the pillow, and still be wide awake by 2am with your mind racing and no idea why. Maybe you're waking up drenched in sweat, assuming it's a hot flash, when it's actually something else entirely. In this episode, I'm breaking down the fifth S in the 6S Method, Sleep, and why it might be the missing piece even when you're doing everything else right.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why all six S's work like an overflowing bucket, and why sleep can undo every other piece of the puzzle
    • My own story of waking up drenched in sweat at 2-4am for months, and what was actually causing it
    • Why night sweats don't always mean hot flashes, and how poor detoxification can show up as sweating at night
    • How a dysregulated nervous system keeps you "sleeping with one eye open," even after eight hours in bed
    • Why blood sugar instability during the day causes cortisol to wake you up at night
    • The role progesterone and GABA play in falling asleep and staying asleep, and why that changes in midlife
    • Why sleep is when your body actually burns body fat, and what happens when you don't get enough of it
    • The circadian rhythm basics that set the stage for better sleep, starting with how you wake up in the morning

  14. 187: Your Muscle is Your 401k — The Strength S of the 6S Method

    Episode 187

    Show notes

You've been showing up. Doing the workouts. Putting in the time. And still, nothing is giving back — no strength, no visible muscle, no change in your body composition. In this episode, Melissa breaks down why muscle is the single best investment you can make in your midlife body, why so much of what women call "strength training" isn't actually building muscle, and why you can't build muscle on top of a body that isn't recovering. This is Strength — the fourth S in the 6S Method inside Well Nourished.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why your muscle is your 401k — the investment that compounds slowly and pays off for decades
    • What muscle is actually doing for you in midlife: regulating blood sugar, keeping your metabolism healthy, and keeping you mobile and independent as you age
    • How muscle changes everything if you're on a GLP-1 — lower doses, fewer side effects, better outcomes
    • The truth about the fear of getting "bulky" (and why it's nearly impossible for most women)
    • Why Pilates, hot sculpt classes, and grabbing the familiar weight in a group class are not strength training
    • Why cardio is a taking exercise and strength training is a giving-back exercise
    • Creative ways to apply progressive overload beyond just lifting a heavier dumbbell — sets, reps, rest time, and tempo
    • How to measure your progress in the data of your workouts while you wait for the mirror to catch up
    • Why women who already know progressive overload still lose muscle — and the other S's that make strength training actually work

  15. 186: Why Perfect Macros Keep You Stuck - Nutrition of the 6S Method

    Episode 186

    Show notes

We've spent this whole series on the physical side of weight loss resistance, but here's the truth: you are not just a physical body. You're mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical all at once, and if we only declog the physical layer, you end up right back in the same place. In this episode, I'm walking you through the two layers most people never address: the emotional weight loss resistance that keeps your body feeling unsafe, and the mental weight loss resistance that quietly convinces you it's not even possible anymore. By the end, you'll have one specific thing to do today to start proving to yourself that it is.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why emotions aren't problems or weaknesses — they're your body communicating exactly what it needs
    • What an "emotional crutch" really is, why overworking counts, and why it's so hard to give up
    • How meeting an emotion the wrong way (eating instead of resting, a drink instead of crying) reads as a threat to your nervous system — and why an unsafe body holds onto fat
    • Why weight loss resistance isn't always about eating too much — sometimes it's not eating, skipped meals, and grabbing the easiest food to digest
    • How a chronically dysregulated nervous system can't tell the difference between a bear and a to-do list — so it holds on, conserves, and protects
    • The mental side: how a chronic dieting history teaches your brain that belief itself is an "energy waste"
    • Why your actions always prove your beliefs — and how the fawn response (overgiving, people-pleasing) becomes proof that "this isn't possible for me"
    • The one thing that actually shifts mental resistance (hint: it's not toxic positivity or sticky notes) — real, undeniable evidence your body is already capable of change
    • The one question to ask yourself today to move from defeat back into belief

    TIMESTAMPS:

  16. 185: Emotional & Mental Weight Loss Resistance: How to Think & Feel Your Way to Results

    Episode 185

    Episode 184

    Show notes

You asked your doctor for help. You got your blood work. You were told everything is normal. And you walked out feeling more confused than when you walked in, because if nothing is wrong, why do you still feel terrible? In this episode, I'm walking you through every lab I use to uncover weight loss resistance, what I'm looking for on each one, and why your doctor and I can look at the exact same numbers and come to completely different conclusions.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why "your labs are normal" doesn't mean your body is functioning optimally, and the real difference between diagnosable and suboptimal
    • Why cutting calories below 1,500 when you're already weight loss resistant creates a brand new problem instead of a solution
    • What the DUTCH test shows us that a standard blood draw simply can't: what you're producing, how you're using it, and how you're detoxing it
    • Why the GI MAP is my favorite test of all, and why your gut is usually the environment your hormones are responding to
    • The energy conversion markers most women never get checked: vitamin D, a full iron panel, and B12
    • Why a TSH alone is not a thyroid panel, and the five markers I want to see instead
    • The blood sugar trio (fasting insulin, fasting glucose, hemoglobin A1C) and why fasting insulin is the one that tells the truth
    • What an abnormal lipid panel in midlife is really telling you (hint: it's almost never your red meat)
    • Why I don't put much weight on a normal CRP when your symptoms are telling a different story

  18. 183: Why You're Stuck — The Physical Root Causes of Weight Loss Resistance

    Episode 183

    Show notes

You've been doing everything right. Eating clean, working out, staying consistent. And still — nothing moves. The scale won't budge, your workouts feel harder than ever, and you're starting to wonder if your body is just broken.

It's not. And in this episode, we're going into exactly what is happening beneath the surface — the physical root causes of weight loss resistance — and why they all trace back to one word: safety.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why every physical root cause of weight loss resistance — hormones, muscle loss, digestion, blood sugar — traces back to your body's perception of safety
    • What happens to DHEA and cortisol when your body shifts into conservation mode, and why that makes fat loss nearly impossible
    • The connection between not ovulating and estrogen dominance — and why that drives weight gain, mood swings, and terrible periods
    • Why your body burns muscle before it burns body fat (and what that means for the women working out consistently but still losing muscle)
    • The gut-weight loss connection most people completely miss — and why your gut lining and your muscle are more connected than you think
    • What's actually happening in your body when you skip breakfast or under-eat — and how it's causing blood sugar spikes even without eating sugar
    • Why "I'm not that stressed" might not be true — and what your nervous system is actually picking up on every single day
    • One concrete thing you can start doing tomorrow to get real data on what your body is missing

    Episode 182

    Show notes

If you've been doing all the right things and your body just isn't responding, this episode is for you. Melissa kicks off a brand new series on weight loss resistance — one of the most common and misunderstood experiences in midlife. In this intro episode, she breaks down exactly who experiences weight loss resistance, why it's not a willpower problem, and what's actually driving it at a physiological level. Spoiler: there's always one reason. And it's not what diet culture told you.

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why weight loss resistance is a whole-body physiological condition — not a discipline or consistency problem
    • The one root reason your body holds onto body fat (and why everything points back to this)
    • What the woman experiencing weight loss resistance typically looks like — and why midlife changes the entire game
    • The two types of clients Melissa worked with who couldn't lose weight — and what she finally figured out
    • Why eating less and doing more cardio is often the worst thing you can do in midlife
    • How Melissa became her own first client — and how that shaped the framework she uses with clients today
    • Why the Midsummer Reset challenge starting July 13th is a timely reset for where you are right now

    Episode 181

    Show notes

"How long am I supposed to stay on this medication?" If you're on a GLP-1, you've asked yourself this question, and you probably haven't said it out loud. In this final episode of the GLP-1 series, I'm answering the questions nobody prepares you for: what to do when the weight loss stops, how to know when you're ready to taper, why food noise comes back louder, and why some women regain the weight (it's usually not the reason you think).

    IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

    • Why "how long do I stay on this?" is the wrong question, and the four better questions to ask instead
    • How to find your natural weight versus a "GLP-1 weight," and why you can't fully trust your body's signals while the medication is on board
    • The most common plateau mistake (going straight to a dose increase) and what a plateau is actually telling you
    • What "unintentionally undernourished" looks like in real life: the protein coffee, the grab-and-go protein bar, the afternoon grazing, the dinner overeating
    • Why eating MORE can restart your weight loss, and what your ancestors' DNA has to do with it
    • The 5 questions to honestly ask yourself before you taper, including protein targets and progressive overload
    • What food noise really is (hint: sometimes it's stress, boredom, or fatigue asking for something that isn't food)
    • The real reasons women regain weight after a GLP-1, and why muscle is your number one protection
    • The intentional medication breaks strategy that can increase your sensitivity and keep you at the lowest effective dose
