The Little Girl Who Found Her Voice
Season 1, Episode 5
Show notes
What happens when you get diagnosed with ADHD at 46 and start looking back at the little girl you used to be?
Well, apparently, she's been trying to tell you something for DECADES!
In this episode of Where Are My Keys?, I'm taking a trip back to my childhood, when I was a shy, daydreaming, doodling little girl who never quite felt like she fit in, but somehow had PLENTY to say. And sing.
We're talking about childhood experiences that make a whole lot more sense through the lens of a late ADHD diagnosis, the people who helped me recognize my gifts, and the creativity that's been part of me for as long as I can remember.
And yes, there's a story involving Madonna, Barbie dolls, and a highly questionable homemade lotion. PLEASE. Don't ask.
But underneath the laughter, there's something deeper: learning to look back at your life with curiosity instead of judgment, recognizing God's hand in your journey, and discovering that finding your voice might be about more than simply being heard.
In this episode, we're getting into:
• Growing up shy, chatty, creative, and never quite fitting in
• The childhood ADHD signs I recognize now that I didn't understand then
• Why being seen and feeling accepted aren't always the same thing
• Daydreaming, reading for hours, and sensory overstimulation
• The teachers who recognized something special in me
• Faith, gratitude, and the wisdom behind two little words: Keep living
• Why I believe sharing our stories can help us rediscover ourselvesYour Turn, BRAINHIVE!
When you look back at your childhood, what's something you recognize differently now?
Maybe it's a behavior, a struggle, a creative passion, or something you always thought was just a personality quirk.
What makes you look back and say, "WAIT…you mean I've been like this since I was a KID?!"
Don't leave ya girl out here hangin' like a loose thread!

The ADHD Tax: A $2000 Trip to Goodwill
Season 1, Episode 4
Show notes
ON. WHAT. PHONE?!
What happens when a quick trip to Goodwill turns into a nearly $2,000 financial nightmare?
Well, if your name is Vik VarWoo, apparently you get a stolen iPhone, a crash course in two-factor authentication, and a front-row seat to the absolute foolishness that is customer service.
All I wanted was a little mother-daughter shopping time and some thrifted treasures for an interior design project. Instead, I spent the better part of a day trying to replace my phone, access my bank accounts, and convince approximately 50-leven security systems that I AM, IN FACT, VIK VARWOO.
And somewhere along the way, Sunshine's LANDLINE became the unexpected hero of the entire ordeal.
In this episode of Where Are My Keys?, we're talking about the ADHD tax — those extra financial, emotional, and time-related costs that can come with living with an ADHD brain.
We're getting into:
• The Goodwill trip that went spectacularly LEFT
• The two-factor authentication circle of HELL
• Agent 404, Agent Rewind, and the customer service chronicles
• Late fees, lost items, forgotten groceries, and other ADHD taxes
• The emotional cost of losing time, money, and peace of mind
• How backups, safeguards, and a little preparation can save your beautifully wired brainPlus, meet Miss Briana, Quita, the Very Mindful, Very Demure Klarna Lady, and Sunshine — the unexpected supporting cast who helped me survive this entire mess.
Because sometimes the ADHD tax isn't what you forgot.
It's what it costs you to recover.
Grab your keys, secure your phone, and come on into the Brainhive.
Fair warning: There's a WHOLE LOT of grown-up language in this one. You've been warned!

A little housekeeping: I'm not a medical professional. Just a woman [of a certain age] sharing her experiences with late-diagnosed ADHD, doing some research, and figuring things out along the way. This podcast is for storytelling, connection, and general information, not medical advice.

Wait...THAT Was ADHD Too?!
Season 1, Episode 3
Show notes
What do you mean I’ve been doing this my whole life…and it was ADHD?!
In this episode, I’m talking about one of the wildest parts of being diagnosed later in life: looking back at your habits, quirks, struggles, work patterns, unfinished projects, emotional reactions, and random little ways of moving through the world and realizing…
WAIT. THAT was ADHD too?!
Some of it is funny. Some of it is validating. And some of it will have you staring into the distance like, “Now see…somebody could’ve told me this 30 years ago.”
We’re getting into:
• The “quirks” that suddenly make a whole lot more sense
• Why traditional 9-to-5 work may not fit every ADHD brain
• Learning to stop fighting yourself and build systems that actually work
• The relief, grief, and straight-up audacity of late diagnosis
• Protecting your energy like you protect your edgesJoin the BRAINHIVE conversation
What’s one thing you found out was related to ADHD that made you say, “WAIT…THAT TOO?!”Don’t leave ya girl out here hangin’ like a loose thread.

So…Apparently I Have ADHD
Season 1, Episode 1
Show notes
What do you mean I've been walking around for 46 years with ADHD and NOBODY TOLD ME?!
Welcome to Where Are My Keys?, a podcast about figuring out life after an adult ADHD diagnosis—one lost item, forgotten appointment, and 50-leven open tabs at a time.
In this very first episode, I'm sharing the story of how I discovered I had ADHD at 46. From pandemic-era brain fog and a dismissive psychiatrist to a primary care doctor who finally connected the dots, the journey to my diagnosis was anything but straightforward.
And baby, the actual evaluation? Between getting the appointment time wrong, losing my keys, and struggling with the test instructions, the diagnosis probably should've been complete before I even sat down.
But getting answers was only the beginning.
In this episode, we're talking about:
• The symptoms that made me realize something wasn't quite right.
• My frustrating journey to getting answers.
• Receiving my official ADHD diagnosis on January 5, 2023.
• The relief of finally understanding my brain—and the grief that followed.
• The emotional breakdown that helped me realize how much I'd been carrying.
• Why I created Where Are My Keys? and what I hope we can discover together.Join the BRAINHIVE conversation!
Were you diagnosed with ADHD as an adult? What was your first reaction when you finally got answers?
Or are you still trying to figure out whether ADHD might explain some of your lifelong experiences?
I'd love to hear your story.
